SHUBMAN'S POV

ANAYA KOHLI. This name has been playing in my mind for the past hour. The match has started, but I still can't focus because she's taken up permanent residence in my thoughts, and I hate it. Distraction. That's exactly what this girl is doing to me. It's not even been a full day since she came into my life, and yet here I am, thinking about her. And what's worse, she's not even my type! I like mature, peaceful girls who understand me and my passion for cricket, someone who would support me—not distract me like this whirlwind of chaos. Yet, here I am, distracted.

I still remember our first phone conversation. I was so mad at her! But the way she froze when she saw me—it was like she couldn't believe her eyes. Honestly, though, who wouldn't be in awe after seeing the most handsome boy of their dreams in person? Okay, Shubman, maybe you're a bit full of yourself, I chuckled inwardly. But seriously, I was shocked when she said she didn't know me. Her brother, Virat Bhai, is the captain of the Indian team, and she doesn't know the players on his team? That's... something.

Just when I thought I could focus, I glanced over at Ishaan and Anaya. Those two were being so annoyingly cheerful, cracking jokes and dancing around every time there was a goal. Dancing. I rolled my eyes. They looked like long-lost best friends, and to make matters worse, Ishaan kept flirting with her.

"I have to say, Anaya, you've got this incredible energy that just lights up the room," Ishaan said, grinning as he side-hugged her.

I felt my hands clench into fists. What is wrong with me? I shouldn't be feeling this way.

"Oh, come on, Ishaan! It's your vibe that's amazing and making this match so much fun," Anaya replied, hugging him back.

They look like a couple! And for heaven's sake, Ishaan, you have a girlfriend. Have you forgotten about Rhea?

It's halftime, and everyone's getting up to stretch. I've made it my mission to swap seats with Ishaan, just to be away from Natasha's clingy half-body-on-me posture. Why is she so clingy? I groaned inwardly.

Before I could make my move, I heard Anaya's voice.

"I'm hungry!" she exclaimed, rubbing her stomach like a little kid.

"Same here, my darling," said her friend Varun, slinging his arm over her shoulders.

"Guys, let's grab something to eat," Ellora suggested, and the group agreed.

We headed to the food court, which was packed. To make things faster, we split into teams. Natasha and Ishaan went to grab drinks (good riddance), Ellora and Jacks headed toward the pizza counter, and I was left with Anaya. She dragged me towards the momos stand like an excited child.

"Hurry up, Shubman! We're going to miss the match!" she yelled, pulling at my arm. Her tiny frame made it feel like a toddler was pulling an adult.

Suddenly, a scream rang out: "OMG THAT'S SHUBMAN GILL!!!"

I sighed. Here we go.

A girl came rushing toward me, starry-eyed and blushing.

"Sir, I'm your biggest fan!" she gushed. The classic line.

"Thank you so much, dear," I said with a smile.

"Can I get a photo and autograph, please?" she asked with puppy-dog eyes.

"Sure, why not?" I replied, trying not to roll my eyes. She handed her phone to Anaya to take the picture, who looked awkward but agreed.

"Sir, can I touch your dimples? It's my dream!" she said, practically pleading.

I felt a wave of discomfort but nodded reluctantly. She touched my dimple and then did a little happy dance before thanking me and skipping away. As we walked back with our food, Anaya burst into laughter.

"Are all your fans like that? 'Shubi, can I touch your dimple, please?'" she mimicked, cracking up.

I couldn't help but laugh too. "Yeah, pretty much," I admitted. Anaya's laugh was infectious, and I realized she looked really cute when she laughed.

We returned to our seats, and luckily, the two seats next to each other were empty. Finally, I'm free from Natasha. Ellora asked why we took so long, and Anaya reenacted the fan encounter in such an over-the-top way that everyone burst out laughing.

The match was nearing its end—3-3 with two minutes left. Anaya was sitting next to me, fingers crossed, hoping for Ronaldo to score. How would she look cheering for me? I wondered. Suddenly, in the last 45 seconds, she grabbed my hand in excitement. My heart skipped a beat, and I looked at her, feeling goosebumps.

In the final 30 seconds, she leaned onto my shoulder, hiding her face slightly as the tension mounted. Why is she so cute? My heartbeat was racing.

The entire stadium erupted in cheers, but I barely registered it because my "Miss Silly" threw her arms around me in excitement.

I hugged her back, and for a moment, everything else faded away. Her heartbeat was racing just as fast as mine. Was it from the excitement of the goal or the hug? Whatever it was, I knew mine was from the hug.

But then—of course—Natasha barged in and pushed Anaya aside, hugging me tightly. "Congratulations, Shubi!" she squealed in her high-pitched voice.

I glanced at Anaya, who was glaring at Natasha like she was ready to murder her. I gently pushed Natasha away, and we all decided it was time to leave since it was midnight.

As we were walking, Anaya suddenly stopped, causing Natasha to bump into her.

"What the hell, Anaya?!" Natasha yelled.

"No, it's Natasha the Hell," Anaya said cheekily, flashing an innocent smile.

I couldn't help but chuckle at her sass. Natasha was fuming, but Anaya winked at me, and I gave her a thumbs up, grinning. Natasha stormed off, muttering, "Fuck you."
