Author's POV

The ICT Boys' Grand Mehendi Entry

The ICT gang stood huddled just outside the Mehendi function entrance, all draped awkwardly in bright sarees with veils covering their heads. The music from inside the ceremony could be heard faintly, but the real drama was unfolding just outside the gate.

Everyone stood still, staring at the entrance as if it were a cricket pitch on the last ball of a World Cup final. Each of them, in their brightly colored sarees, hesitated, refusing to take the first step inside.

Shubman, tugging at his pallu to adjust it, finally broke the silence. "Toh kaun pehle ja raha hai?" he asked, his voice a mix of determination and nervousness. (So, who's going in first?)

Rohit, who had been busy adjusting his own yellow saree, looked around at the gang and immediately pointed at Shubman and Ishaan. "Arre, tum dono jao pehle. Tum log toh team ke opener ho na, yeh bhi open kar lo!" he said with a grin, trying to pass the responsibility onto the younger two. (Hey, you two go first. You're the team's openers, right? So open this too!)

Ishaan's eyes widened, and he shook his head vigorously, backing up slightly. "Main? Pehle? Nahi, nahi, bhai, main yeh nahi kar raha!" he protested. "Rohit bhai, yeh kya hai? Yeh cricket ka match nahi hai jo main Shubman ke saath opening karne chalu ho jaun! Main nahi ja raha pehle (Me? First? No way, bro, I'm not doing this! Rohit bhai, what is this? This isn't a cricket match where I'll start opening with Shubman! I'm not going in first.)

Virat, who was still trying to adjust his saree's pallu with an irritated expression, shook his head. "Bhai, ye situation aisi hai ki main chase master hoke bhi last mein aana chahta hoon. Tum log pehle jao, mujhe safe entry karni hai," he said, trying to justify his reluctance. (Bro, this situation is such that even though I'm the chase master, I want to come in last. You guys go first, I need a safe entry.)

Rishabh laughed, adjusting his own green saree. "Virat bhai, chase toh tum baad mein karna, pehle Ishaan ko andar bhej dete hain. Waise bhi, yeh humara sabse light player hai, agar gir bhi gaya toh chot kam lagegi," he joked, nudging Ishaan forward. (Virat bhai, you can chase later, let's send Ishaan in first. Anyway, he's our lightest player, even if he falls, the injury will be less.)

Hardik, standing nearby in his bright green saree, burst out laughing. "Arre, Ishaan, ab tu back out karega? Kal tak toh bol raha tha 'main sabke liye kuch bhi kar sakta hoon'... Ab kya hua tere confidence ko?" he teased, giving Ishaan a playful nudge. (Oh, Ishaan, are you backing out now? Just yesterday you were saying, 'I can do anything for you guys'... What happened to that confidence now?)
