Chapter 4:

Henry "is something wrong with mommy", Emily "mommy just had a long night, that's all. Let's get you dressed for school", Emily put the dishes in the dishwasher, and then took Henry to his room to get him dressed and ready for school. Henry "are you gonna take me", Emily "yeah. Let's go", Emily got Michael in the car seat, and Henry in his and drove off to his school, Henry "bye Emily", Emily "bye buddy, have a good day", Henry "okay. Love you", Emily "love you too", Emily picked up her coffee order and JJ's coffee order and headed back home. JJ was already back from her jog, she was in the shower rinsing off, Emily "can we talk", JJ "there's nothing to talk about", Emily "why are you even mad at me, I didn't even do anything. You've been catching an attitude with me for no reason", JJ "for no reason", Emily "why would you even be mad at me, I didn't do anything to you", JJ "Emily you pushed me away", Emily "I know you aren't talking about what happened last night, I pushed you away. How did I push you away, you were drunk out of your mind and you kissed me. No relationship is gonna start with a drunk sloppy kiss", JJ "is that what you think it was, a sloppy kiss. Is that what I am to you", Emily "oh my gosh you are literally not understanding anything are you? If that is something we wanted to pursue I'm not saying no to it I'm just saying it's not gonna happen because one of us are drunk and just happen to make a move. How could you even be ready for another relationship despite you coming out of a very abusive relationship? How could you be ready for another, I worry for you, I don't want anything to happen to you or the boys. But you can't rush right into another relationship after leaving one, that's totally unhealthy", JJ "are you done", Emily "don't shut me out JJ, why are you even acting like this? One it's clear that I've never been truly in love with someone of felt loved by someone, and you, you just got out of a terrible abusive marriage. Why do you wanna move on so fast, how are you even processing all this", JJ "I want to get the thought of him out of my head", Emily "JJ that's not what I'm understanding, with all of the things he has put you through how could you be ready to step into something new", JJ "I don't know what you want me to say, I'm here trying to explain to you but you are still bringing up him", Emily "I just want to know why me, why do you want to be in a relationship with someone as broken and damaged as I am", JJ "you're not damaged Emily, don't ever say that again. You're not broken either, you're my best friend, I'm the only one aside from Aaron that knew about you surviving your fight with Doyle, I was there when you couldn't be there and stepped in for the team. From the moment I laid eyes on you I knew that I was in love with you. I mean I get that we were both with men and have dated men in the past but we have the opportunity to see where we can go as a couple, and it's a risk but it's a risk that I'm willing to take. I wanna be in a relationship with you, I wanna tell you my secrets, I want us to be able to talk with one another when something is wrong. I want us to count on one another, to look at each other like we've never looked at each other before, I know that working in the same department could potentially get us fired but I don't care what happens I just wanna be with you. Despite me already having two kids, I want to start a family with you, one day I hope to say I do to you, and just be with you. I know this may be a lot to take in but the only reason I was even okay while dealing with the things William put my through was because of you and the boys, you and the kids are all that matter to me. You can go back to your office and work on your paperwork or you could tell me what you think about everything I just said, Emily you're the sexiest woman I've ever met and you're so badass out there in the field, it's one of the reasons that I love you because you are truly compassionate for others, for the ones you save. This job wouldn't be the same without you, you're the leader of our team and that's the best part about doing what we do", Emily "JJ just shut up already", Emily pressed her lips against JJ's, the two of them embraced themselves in their arms. JJ "I love you so much", Emily "I love you more", the nanny arrived, Emily "are you sure you're ready to be back", JJ "yes, I wanna be back. The team needs us", Emily "alright, the baby's schedule is right here, and Henry needs to be picked up at 5:30 from his after school program", the nanny took down JJ and Emily's phone numbers, JJ and Emily. They left to work, Penelope "oh my goodness what a surprise! Look who's back", Emily "yes we are back, it feels so great to be back", JJ "yes it does", Emily "I am gonna go get settled in my office, JJ you should get settled back at your desk", JJ "okay", Emily goes to her office. Penelope "um we've got a case", Emily "okay gather up the team in the conference room", Penelope "yes".
