"I doubt people have walked here since at least a decade ago," [Y/N] spoke as she quickly adjusted her footing to avoid falling from the crumbling debris, "so it'll be common for the ground to crack under your footing."
Although–as per usual–Blade offered no response to her advice, she could tell that he was taking lighter steps than before.
Her earlier jaded comment had seemed to make him a bit more compliant. Although it was easy to interpret saying 'someone like you' with negative connotations, Blade seemed to understand that what you were implying was neither negative nor positive.
I wonder if being immortal was his choice or not. If so, had he anticipated the inhuman monster he would become as time passed?
[Y/N] stopped letting her mind wander and focused on trying to remember the location of the Stellaron as it had been described to her. Her feet seemed to be drawing her towards the location as if she were under some sort of spell. Although she had never approached the location of the Stellaron closely, she could feel her heart quickening with each step over the crumbling terrain.
"Can you sense it?" she asked the male trailing behind her.
"No. I would've gone on my own if I could have."
"Yeah, that figures. I've never been this far into the ruins here but I can sense the presence of a foreign entity. I assume that must be the Stellaron you're searching for."
Blade grunted in response, likely pleased to hear that their escapade together would soon come to an end. I did tell him not to kill me, but I wonder if he will once my purpose is used up.
"One thing I remember being told when I was younger was that it requires the handprint of a person that descends from this planet. Do Stellarons normally require fingerprints to access?"
"No."
So then the handprint is probably required for some gate to access it.
Suddenly, the ground dropped away before your feet. It seemed like there was a deep crater located in the middle of the ruins. I'm not sure but...I think it's down here.
"You should stay here," she turned in the general direction Blade was standing. "I don't want you to get needlessly hurt, so I'll let you know if it's safe to go down." There's no point in someone immortal suffering from wounds rather than someone who will soon be a corpse.
[Y/N] smiled at him despite knowing he couldn't see it before attempting to descend the steep incline below her. The sides of the crater were rough enough that she could grasp onto the edges with her hands to slowly move herself downwards. With each slide further down she felt the alarmed feeling in her chest grow larger as if she was about to witness something that was never meant to be seen by the human eye. She took a deep breath to still her beating heart. Being afraid accomplishes nothing.
