[Y/N] opened her eyes once the sound of rain subsided, letting out a yawn before pushing herself to her feet. Her makeshift traveling companion, Blade, hadn't rested at all.
"Do immortal people not need sleep?" she asked him curiously but was met with radio silence.
After waiting a few minutes to verify that the acidic rain had passed, they set off on their lengthy walk once more. The tension between them seemed to have ceased a bit, however Blade was still maintaining the same distance from her as he had previously. He's so closed off. [Y/N] figured a lot must have happened to turn him into this much of a grouch."There's only seventy-five miles left," she reported upon recognizing the wreckage they were now skirting around.
"Understood."
"Huu? What's with this strangely compliant remark?" she remarked snidely.
"...Next time I will make sure to refrain from speaking at all," Blade muttered quietly too himself, well aware of the fact she most likely overheard.
Oh well. So long as he sees me as less suspicious. There isn't too much I can do to gain his trust on the way there, so I'll have to make sure to provide ample information once we arrive at our destination. I'm sure even he will realize I am not tricking him as soon as I show him the Stellaron. There was a high chance that Blade would kill her either way, but she didn't mind. She had lost her life-long partner and wasn't against dying, but if she had to pick between living or dying, she would want to live. There's far more to the universe than this blasted eclipsed planet.
[Y/N] kicked a rock that had wedged itself loose on the planet's surface.. "Where do you come from, Blade?"
"I do not have a place that I have designated to be my origin," he surprisingly responded to her question, "and I have no need for that either."
"I see," she let out a small chuckle. "I admire the way you think."
"What do you mean?" Blade's deep voice was suddenly dripping with malice.
She swiftly realized that she had made a blunder and quickly withdrew. "Ah I just meant..." Desperately grasping for straws, [Y/N] recalled his behavior and words over their trek and came up with a baseless hypothesis. "...The fact that you seem to have some greater mission that you can't possibly let go."
Although she knew absolutely nothing of why he was collecting the Stellaron on this planet, she could tell that wasn't the extent of his desires. There was something far more complex involved in this situation. There was a malice in his heart that burned bright like a flame, sharpening his blade for eternity and allowing him to continue forth.
Blade's lack of response led her to assume she had hit the nail on the head. There was no way he was going to inform her of his mission, but knowing just a bit more about him allowed [Y/N] to piece together a more concrete image of the mysterious immortal entity.
