"PLEASE, GIYUU-SAN, I HAVE TO GET THERE!" Y/n's voice cracked, eyes brimming with tears at the thought of her mother being in danger.
As Y/n and Zenitsu rushed out of the Demon Slayer Corps headquarters, Giyuu swiftly followed, trying to stop them.
"You can't go," he said firmly.
"Please..." she whispered, her voice trembling. She was begging.
"It's far too dangerous," Giyuu warned. "I doubt anyone in that village has survived. Upper Rank Two isn't just any demon."
His words made her chest tighten. Her heart pounded louder.
"No... Do you expect me to just stand here and do nothing while my mother's life is in grave danger?" Her voice rose with emotion, eyes staring into his with fierce determination.
"The demon hunters can handle it-"
"But Giyuu-san, I wanted to see my mother...please"
The Water Hashira sighed, turning his gaze away.
"Fine. Do as you please. But I won't take responsibility if you get hurt. You made your choice, Y/n.""W-What?! You're just letting her go?!" Zenitsu yelled in panic, but Giyuu had already dashed ahead, heading to the village himself.
"Y/n-san? Y/n-san!!"Y/n didn't stop. Her feet carried her forward on their own. And when she arrived at the village-
Her heart sank.
The flames devoured everything in sight. Homes were engulfed. Screams pierced the air. Demon Slayers and demons clashed in the streets, and the sky was filled with smoke and death.
And then... she saw him.
Amid the chaos stood Douma-his rainbow eyes glinting like gems in the firelight, an innocent smile painted on his face. He looked pleased, proud... as if he were admiring his masterpiece.
Her gaze slowly drifted to his arms.
And that's when she saw it.
Her mother-limp, lifeless-cradled in his arms like a discarded doll."N-No..." her voice came out broken, her legs gave out, but somehow she kept walking forward.
"Douma-san... w-what did you do...""My dear Y/n... I was waiting for you, my little dove..." he murmured with a sickening sweetness, letting the corpse slip from his hands. He stepped forward and gently cupped her cheeks, as if comforting her.
Y/n dropped to her knees. Her body trembled as she stared at her mother's cold, lifeless face. She couldn't breathe. Couldn't speak.
Douma crouched down to meet her at eye level, brushing a strand of hair behind her ear.
"If only you'd arrived sooner... all of this might've been avoided," he whispered, almost tenderly."It's my fault... all of this... it's my fault..." she murmured, her voice hollow with grief.
"I missed you, Y/n-chan... Come here."
He pulled her into his arms, his hand stroking her hair as if she were his most precious possession.
"I hope you've learned your lesson," he whispered, breathing in her scent like a man possessed. It drove him wild-her tears, her helplessness. She didn't even seem to realize what was happening anymore."Douma-san... I thought you loved me..." she choked out, clinging to her clothes. "So why... why, Douma-san?!"
"I do love you, Y/n," he said softly. "You belong to me. Only me. Everyone else is just in the way. They deserve to die."
