Chapter 3: The War Ends

6 Years Later...

The city erupted in a frenzy of celebration as news spread that the war had finally ended.

Millions of people poured into the streets, singing, hugging, and weeping tears of joy.

The Shire family was caught up in the euphoric atmosphere, jumping and laughing with unbridled happiness.

"The sacrifices of our soldiers have made this day possible!" Arthur shouted as he hoisted his young son George onto his shoulders.

The boy's laughter mingled with the triumphant cries of the crowd. Arthur couldn't contain his elation, even accidentally scooping up the wrong child for a moment before realizing his mistake and switching to his own son.

As the jubilant throngs waved their national flags and set off fireworks, the Shire family reveled in the peace that had been hard-won.

They knew this marked the start of a new chapter - one where they could finally look to the future and plan their next steps.

A few days later, as Catherine diligently swept the Shire family's quiet home, she overheard Elisa pleading with her mother.

"Can we take Catherine with us? We can't leave her behind!" Mary looked conflicted, explaining that it was ultimately Arthur's decision.

Just then, Arthur appeared at the top of the stairs. "Catherine, what are you doing up here?" he asked.

Catherine nervously explained she had been tidying. "Wonderful, wonderful," Arthur replied. "Now come, have you eaten? There's food waiting for you." He gestured for her to join them.

Elisa seized the moment. "Papa, can we take Catherine with us when we leave? Please?" she begged. Arthur considered for a moment, then smiled warmly. "Of course, Catherine, would you like to come with us?"

Catherine's face lit up with joy. She nodded enthusiastically, hardly daring to believe her good fortune.

The Shire children cheered and surrounded her in a celebratory group hug.

Their family was gaining a new member as they embarked on the next chapter of their lives, leaving the trials of war behind.
