The family photo they had taken just the day before now sat proudly in a frame on Arthur's desk.

He gazed at it, marveling at how blessed he was to have such a loving family.

The smiling faces of his wife Mary and their children Geneviere, Catherine, and the others filled him with warmth.

Just then, Arthur's office phone rang. It was his colleague Adam. "Hello? Arthur?"

"Hello, Adam. What's going on?" Arthur asked.

Adam's voice was laced with concern. "Arthur, I've been looking into the news about your neighborhood. There's been a spike in the crime rate - a man was murdered and dumped into a sewer. You need to be careful."

Arthur's brow furrowed. "Murdered? I hadn't heard anything about that." Just then, his assistant Mildred knocked and brought in the day's newspaper.

As Arthur flipped through the pages, he let out a nervous chuckle. "Ah, so that's why I'm just now seeing this news. The paper is late today."

He paused as he noticed a gruesome photo of the crime scene. "Adam, it even looks like the weapon used was one of my own kitchen knives."

Adam sighed heavily. "Arthur, you have to watch out, especially with your daughters. These criminals seem to be targeting families."

Arthur's expression darkened. "I'll be extra vigilant on my way home. Thank you for the warning, Adam." They said their goodbyes and hung up.

As Arthur gathered his things to leave, his mind raced with worry for his family's safety.

Little did he know, the troubles were only just beginning when he arrived home to find his daughter Catherine rifling through his wallet.
