"your braids like a pattern. love you to the moon and saturn"bird's chirped in the distance but they were overpowered by the shouting of fan's in the bleacher's. everyone was cheering for which ever team they supported, or their best friend, or sibling.
dark clouds settled over north denver as the baseball match went on.
avery summers sat beside gwenny blake, both cheering for gwenny's brother, finney.
avery and finney had been best friends for as long as they can remember. but recently, finney has been able to easily bring a red tint to avery's cheeks, or cause and explosion of butterflies in her stomach, or make her giggle uncontrollably. she didn't know what changed, but she didn't mind.
avery summers stared intently at her best friend as gwenny encouraged the boy, "come on, finney. come on."
he threw the ball to the batter, who missed.
"yes, finney! nice, finney!" gwenny said, excitedly.
avery stood from her seat, encouraging her best friend, "whoo! yes, finney!"
finney regained the ball, but before he threw it again, he glanced over to avery, her red hair tied back in a braid. she smiled at him, encouragingly and cupped her hands together, bringing them to her chin in hope as she walked forward to the fence.
finney blushed slightly at her beauty and turned back to face bruce yamada. he threw the ball again, but this time bruce hit it. the hit didn't go far and bruce had one last chance.
finney glanced back to avery, who nodded at him, letting him know she was proud. he lifted his arm and launched the ball at bruce. the bat collided with the ball and the small, round object flew high in the air, landing over the fence. bruce made a home run and the yellow team had won.
avery sighed and looked at finney. the boy turned to face her and she gave him a smile, telling him it was okay.
after the game, avery, gwenny and finney walked home together. they seperated ways and all three entered their destructive homes, knowing they'd see each other at school soon enough.

by the time avery was home, her parents hadn't returned from work.
the girl sighed and made herself something to eat before she headed to her room to get ready for bed. avery read her favourite book at the moment, 'alice's adventures in wonderland'.
she read for about and hour and a half before she got tired and called it a night, switching her side lamp off and closing her eyes as the darkness of her dreamland consumed her.
