Chapter 3: Great Birthday

Two weeks later..........

I had gotten really used to the school. I knew my way around......most the time. Sometimes, I had to ask one of the staff members where my destination was in the castle. There were some places where I go to more often than others.

Professor McGonagall was really nice to me. She would tuck me into bed every night and read me stories. She told me the story of the three brothers. It was very interesting since it was a story from the wizard world.

Professor Dumbledore was really nice. He supervised me while I learned how to control my powers. Also, he allowed me to use a secret room call the Room of Requirements. It was a secret room that only appears when a person is in great need of it. It transforms into whatever the witch or wizard needs to be at that moment in time.

I was one of very few people who knew about the room. I would use it to practice dancing. I go to the room everyday and practice for an hour. I was really good at it. Dance was what reminded me of my parents.

I won my first and last competition at the age of four, two weeks before the accident.

August 24........

I woke up to know that it was my birthday today. I was very happy. Usually for the past, while I was in the orphanage, the kids would beat me on my birthday. The care taker was worse. She would whip me three times my age.

I got out of bed and walked into the bathroom to wash myself. I wore my clothes and walked out to find a cat on my bed. I knew that it was Professor McGonagall. She looked next to her. I saw that there were presents.

I watched her jump off the bed and transfigured back into a human. "Happy birthday my dear," she said to me. I gave her a smile. "Thank you," I said to her. She gave me a smile. "You can open your presents later. Right now, breakfast," she told me.

I followed her to the Great Hall to see food on the teacher's table. It was a normal breakfast as usual. I made sure to enough for the morning. Of course, I didn't touch the sausages. I had pancake, eggs, strawberries, and water.

Once I was done, I walked around the castle. I decided to go see Hagrid. He was a big guy. He was half wizard and half giant. He was really friendly. I would have to really turn my head up to see his face. It took me a while to get to his hut.

I knocked on his door. The door opened to reveal him. "Oh hello Alice," he said to me. I gave him a smile. "Hello Hagrid," I said to him. "Happy birthday," he said to me. "Thank you," I said to him. He gave me a nod.

I spent time with him. He gave me a cup of tea. He was a gentle giant. After a while, I left to go back to the castle. I saw Madame Pomphrey. She gave me a smile. "Hello Alice. Happy birthday," she told me. I walked passed her. "Thank you," I said to her as I continued my way through the castle.

I walked back into my room and looked at the pile of presents. {It looks like I got presents from everyone in the castle.} Professor McGonagall got me a book on beginner's of transfiguration. Professor Snape got me a book of beginner's potions. I gotten other gifts besides books.

I saw that I didn't get a present from Professor Dumbledore. It made me feel sad a bit, but I had guessed that he was busy to get me a gift.I didn't mind. He had done so much for me since I came to the school.

Soon, I spent the rest of the day looking through the books that I had gotten for my birthday.

Dinnertime, I made my way for dinner at the Great Hall. Once at the Great Hall, I saw Professor Dumbledore and Professor McGonagall there. The table was filled with food and I saw a cake with a candle on it.

"Happy Birthday," they told me. I gave a huge smile. I sat down and had my dinner. I ate so much. Soon, it was cake time. "Make a wish and blow out the candle," Professor Dumbledore told me. I gave him a nod.

I looked at the cake. I closed my eyes to make a wish

{I wish for great life in the wizard world.}

I opened my eyes and blew out the candle. Professor McGonagall served me a piece of cake. It was a vanilla cake with fresh strawberry. It was my favorite. I really was enjoying my birthday. It was perfect.

"Alice. I would like you to come to my office. I have something to give you," Professor Dumbledore told me. I followed him to his office. I said hello to Fawkes of course. I sat down in the chair in front of his desk.

Professor Dumbledore took out a black box and opened it to me. I saw a very beautiful necklace. It was a amethyst necklace. "Your parents were to give this to you on your seventh birthday, but they were never able to give it to you," he told me.

I looked at him. {My parents.} "Luckily, Roland found the necklace. The necklace was pretty worn. He got the gems removed and made a new necklace for you. He had planned to give it to you on your seventh birthday but, he had passed away," he told me.

"On his death bed, He told me to keep the necklace until your seventh birthday. He really wanted you to have it. I'm sure your parents wants you to have it as well," he told me. Professor Dumbledore took the necklace and helped me wear it..

"Your parents had the gems of the necklace for a very long time. I hope you like them," he told me. I looked at the small pendant. It was really beautiful. {I'm going to treasure this always.} I set the pendant down to my chest.

"You may go to your room now. Happy birthday," he told me. I gave him a smile. "Thank you," I said and left his office.

Once in my room, I looked out of the window. The moon was out with the stars. {Thank you mom, dad, Roland. I love my gift.} Then, I saw a shooting star fly across the room. I closed my eyes to make a wish on it. I thought that I could make a different wish.

{I wish for no abuse upon me. I want my new life to be a good life.}
