Next day, Mom forcefully made me go with George in his—OUR—car. She stated that we had to make up to each other and twin siblings normally quarreled all the time. Bad luck stuck to my side-- he even picked up Adam and Max on the way. The three of them ignored me as they talked among themselves. I did not bother to join their conversation and started texting Amanda.
Me- Ugh! Did you reach school?
Amanda- Yeah! Already! Where are you?
Me- In the car with THE three best friends. :(
Amanda- WHAT!?! Omg! That's sooo exciting!!
I sighed deeply. What qualities did the girls find in these boys? The girls are actually damn immature when it came to them. I could hardly believe they couldn't see how big-time jerks the boys were.
George quickly pulled into the parking lot and I saw Amanda waiting for me at the entrance. As soon as she saw our car, she started waving at us madly.
"Your friend..." muttered George and shook his head slightly. "Tell her to calm down, will you?"
"As far as I recall, you were her best friend once and I was the sidekick. Why don't you tell her yourself?" Proud of my comeback, I stepped out of the car and deliberately slammed the door harshly, letting him know that I was still mad at him. I quickly walked to the cafeteria door without looking back. Amanda called out and I slowed down so she could join me.
"What's up with you?" She exclaimed, leaning against the door and glaring at me.
"Look, don't get pissed off with me just because of George!" Her expression turned more excited and she actually started to jump a little, "Now let's go to meet Miss Martin. She wants to talk about some club."
The Club! Right, how could I forget it? Other thoughts already out of my mind; I quickly grabbed Amanda's hand and started to lead her towards the room. We saw our eccentric teacher sitting by her desk tapping something into her phone.
"Even the teachers are addicted to their cell phones. And they blame us for carrying it in our pockets!" Amanda whispered angrily into my ears and I stifled a laugh at her indignation.
She looked up as we walked towards her. As usual, she had put on very heavy makeup. Her green eyes shone shrewdly and I noticed her earrings. They were dark green and way bigger than her ears. She shot a pleasant smile, ushered us to sit on the chair and while doing so, her bangles clanged loudly against the desk. The cheerleaders could take some fashion tips from her, I thought.
"So, as I had mentioned before, Tina, I'm making you the head of this club: 'Women Empowerment'. Amanda's going to be your assistant." The teacher began to talk while shuffling some of her papers to obtain the notes she had prepared about this club. "It is all about you girls discussing on Women's empowerment. We need you to prepare a huge speech or a presentation, whatever you wish. This could include some activities, social work, whatever you can think of."
We nodded enthusiastically and she continued, "All schools are going to gather and a competition is to be held. One of that is Speech; the main topic is the topic of our club. I've already notified all the teachers to inform this to the students. This Saturday, you are going to hold the first meeting. Are you game?"
This was going to be so much fun! It was our last chance to do something for our school—even though it did nothing for us and I was going to do my best. Amanda clasped my hands in hers and squeezed it.
"Of course," I said breathlessly. "We are in and up for it!"
"Okay, thanks a lot, Tina." Miss Martin smiled at us and stood up. "That's all for now."
