It was a dull evening, both boys had gone to their favourite park to just enjoy the scenery. Izuku was on the swings while Katsuki pushed him gently. The calm scenery and atmosphere were enough to make Izuku crack a small smile.
It was the first time Katsuki had seen him smile in days. Happiness bubbled inside his little mind thinking that whatever was bothering his best friend was now gone but he was still curious.
"Deku." The greenest turned to face him. "Why don't you want to tell me what's wrong with you?" The smile immediately slipped off his face and Katsuki internally cursed himself.
"Why is everyone acting like I don't exist?" Izuku whispered hoarsely but Katsuki still heard him.
"I-i don't know."
"Is it because I'm quirkless? Are you gonna stop noticing me like everyone else too?" Katsuki stopped pushing and walked around to stand in front of him.
Gently, he squished Izuku's face in his hands, "You're my best friend, Deku. Of course, I'll never ignore you. And don't mind the extras who are ignoring you, cos we're gonna be the best hero duo the world has ever seen, alright? It doesn't matter if you're quirkless, you can still be one of the best heroes I know!" Katsuki said as he pulled Izuku into a hug.
"Okay, Kacchan."

As the years went by, Izuku slowly became a fuzzy memory in the minds of those who knew him. Those who did remember him made sure he knew he was worthless.
Useless.
A deku.
Bakugo Katsuki, his ex-best friend, was the worst of them.
Most times he would hurl abusive words at him and hit him, while sometimes, he would ignore him.
Izuku never blamed him, he always told himself that it was because of the people he surrounded himself with that influenced him into being a bully. That Katsuki would never start bullying him out of the blue.
Especially since this was the same Katsuki who told him quirkless didn't mean useless.
It had only been seven years since that day and Izuku has had to fend for himself ever since. From working in the neighbourhood for money to stealing the Yagi's leftover food to survive.
The multitude of jobs the eleven-year-old took on were tough, but he always stayed at the top of his class earning himself a soft spot in the teachers' hearts.
Currently, he was being chased around by bullies. The school day wasn't over yet, so he technically wasn't allowed to leave school unless he was willing to get in trouble.
