Akuma stared nervously as a pair of emerald green eyes stared into the depths of his soul.

He didn't know exactly when the boy woke up, all he knew was that he got the feeling of someone staring at him and when he finally acknowledged it, he ended up in a non-consensual staring contest.

"Who-" Akuma jumped at the sudden voice, "Who are you?" the boy finished, shooting the man a confused look.

"Who am I? Ah, right! I'm Akuma Yūji and you are?"

The boy looked away, whether in confusion or annoyance, Akuma couldn't tell. "I-I don't know. Who am I?"

Oh, wow. This is gonna be a problem.

"Just wait there. Let me go get a doctor." Akuma mumbled and left, returning minutes later with the doctor and his wife in tow.

After a few tests were run on him, all three had concluded that he had no memory whatsoever of anything; not his name, his family or even who did this to him.

"So, what do we do now?" Kimura asked, turning to the boy who just stared blankly at the wall.

"We'll have to find some way to contact his parents. Or maybe someone who knows him-"

"Don't." All three jumped at the sound of his voice.

"Seriously, what is wrong with you three?" he murmured in annoyance. "I may not remember anything else but I remember one thing. I was about to go to bed and then someone in that house attacked me. They probably think I'm dead by now so it's best to leave it that way."

"But we can't just move on without finding someone to take care of you. Don't you have any other family members to take care of you?"

"If I did then I don't remember." Akuma frowned and turned to his wife. "Kimi, I know that look in your eyes. No." Kimura pouted and sat down.

"For now, we should at least make sure he's okay and fully healed. I can bring in the police to help investigate this further."

Akuma shook his head, "If the police get involved then the case would have to get public since they would need his family to come in. Then they would know he's alive."

"We could bring in your underground hero friend," Kimi suggested and Akuma frowned. "Do I have to?"

"If anyone would be willing to help us, it would be him." Akuma sighed and dialled the number.

"Hello?"

"Eraserhead, do you mind hurrying over to xxx hospital really quick? We've got a peculiar kid on our hands."

"Fine. I'm nearby anyway. I'll see you soon." Eraserhead hung up leaving Akuma pouting.

"This is the kid?" Akuma nodded. "Tsukauchi mentioned a child with a description similar to his that got pronounced dead a few days after the case started."

"Why would they do that? Did they even try to find him?" Shouta shook his head, "The father paid the higher-ups to close the case. And they were more than willing to do so since the kid is quirkless."

A tense silence filled the room before they all turned back to the boy. "Quirkless? But why can I do this then?" the boy lifted his bandaged hand and held it in front of the window. A bird that just so happened to be there was shot far away, leaving only a few feathers behind.

"Tsukauchi said he was registered quirkless. Maybe a misdiagnosis?" Shouta murmured. "Then again, we're not even sure it's him."

"Anyway, did the detective mention his name?" Kimura asked. "Yeah, Izuku something. I'm not sure."

"Izuku..." the way the name rolled off the greenette's tongue felt familiar. "I'm fine with going by that name."

"Kuma! Wake up!" Kimura whispered urgently, shaking her husband awake. "Kimi? What's going on?" he asked groggily.

Kimura pointed to the bed on the other side of the room which was currently empty, "He's gone." Those two words were more than enough to drive away whatever tiredness remaining in his body.

"Shit! How long has he been gone?" Kimura shrugged and started pacing around worriedly, "He's hurt! How could he just leave the hospital without getting better first?!"

"Kimi, maybe you should go home." He muttered, placing a comforting hand on her shoulder. "Home? Why would I-"

"We've both been at the hospital all day and Akina is probably worried that both her parents have been out for so long. Go home to Akina." he explained.

"But what about you? And Izuku; he could be dying for all we know."

Akuma gently pressed his lips atop her forehead, "It's going to be fine. I'll bring him back and make sure he's safe. And once everything is settled, I'll finally take you out for dinner, okay?"

Kimura huffed but gave in, "You better be back home once Izuku is safe, okay?"

"I promise. I'll see you later, Kimi."

Kimura watched with worry as Akuma walked out of the hospital room.

He didn't expect Izuku to make it that far, especially since his wounds were still at a risk of reopinging.

And yet he somehow managed to track the greenette to a location almost two hours away from the hospital. It wasn't that hard to find him; anyone would stand out with green hair and bloody bandages.

"Izuku."

The boy flinched but didn't move from his spot on the ground. "Why'd you leave? You worried us all."

Akuma knelt on the ground so he was face to face with Izuku. He brushed the hair away from Izuku's face allowing him to see the blank look in his green eyes.

"I overheard the doctors talking about contacting my real family behind your back. I don't remember much but it's like my body remembered. I don't ever want to go back." the boy whispered.

Akuma hummed and turned to look at his bandages, "Why don't I take you home. My home. Thankfully, you haven't reopened your wounds but you still need to rest."

Akuma could see the reluctance in his eyes and sighed, "I'm not trying to deceive you, kid. If you say you don't want to go back to your real family, then I won't make you. But I can't just leave you out on the streets. They'll find you faster."

Akuma could practically hear the gears turning in Izuku's head and chuckled, "My wife and I don't mind taking you in. It'll be better to just blend in as my kid and give you a new identity. So, what do you say, Izuku?"

Reluctantly, Izuku took his hand and got up, "Alright, my car's nearby. Let's go."
