Chapter Two: The Country side

                             The pelicans flew through the sky as the forests started to change into farms and houses. Then the plasma cannons started to fire at the ships. The covenant had many plasma turrets manned by a grunt, while a jackal pointed to their next target. In Fangs pelican a couple of shots hit the ship on the wing. The ship started to turn to the left and dive towards the ground. "Brace yourselves!" The pilot yelled as he tried to smoothen the landing. The pelican crashed into a house that was filled with covenant soldier. 

                       The covenant inside the building flocked to were the pelican was. A elite turned on his plasma sword and stabbed into the side of the ship. He made a cut out square in the ship and pulled the metal away. Three jackals walked in and turned on their shields. They made a formation the humans weapons couldn't break through. Then the elite walked in and held his sword in his arm and a plasma pistol in the other. Then marines started to wake up and saw the glowing shields. A marine grabbed his pistol from his belt and fired a shot at one of the jackals. He shot it in the leg and the jackal started to stumble. He fired another two shots as the marine saw that the jackal had exposed its head. The jackal fell face first on the ground and brain tissue and blood leaked out of its head. Then one of the other jackals fired and hit the marine in the chest. 

                       Fang opened his eyes and looked through his helmets visor. The visor was cracked and he barely could see. He felt his right arm and it was broken. He pulled the helmet off and looked at the battle. He watched as a jackal hit a marine in the chest and he fell back. Fang stood up and ran at the covenant ignoring his broken arm. He tackled one of the jackal and put it in a headlock. He then snapped its neck and took its plasma pistol. He held the dead jackal in a chokehold while he held the gun in the other. He fired a shot into the other jackals calf and then its head. The elite stepped forward and swung his plasma sword. Fang moved out of the way while the elite cut the dead jackal in half. The elite stepped over to Fang and kicked him to the ground. He raised his sword and prepared to gut him. Then multiple gun shots rang out and then more. Marquis and four marines surrounded the elite. The elite had trouble trying to find the enemy. Soon the marines broke through the shield and the elite staggered back and fell. Marquis  walked over to Fang. "You are lucky we were here." He said and reached his hand out to help him up. Fang took Marquis's hand and stood up. He soon remembered the marine that was shot before. He turned and saw the marine on the ground. He ran over to him and knelt by his side. Dang couldn't see through the man's golden visor and couldn't see if he was alive. The marine coughed and looked at the ODST. "Sir you lost your helmet." He told him and and he shook his head. "It wasn't usable anymore." He told him and the marine nodded. "Then take mine." He said and the marine lifted his hands to his helmet. He slowly pulled off the helmet revealing his bloody face. He handed Fang the helmet and he coughed again. "Kill them all for me with this..." he said and tied his dog tags to Fangs pistol. Fang watched as the marines life slowly slipped away. The other marines knelt down by his side as well and held his hands. "Thank you." The marine said before his eyes slowly closed forever. Fang and the marines stood up and fang looked at the helmet the marine gave him. It was custom painted. The helmet was mostly red but had white shark teeth painted on. He put the helmet on and pulled out the pistol with the dog tags. He turned to the handmade entrance the elite made. A jackal and two grunts were running in. Fang fired three shots and the three fell. "Let's kick their ass." Fang said grimly and walked towards the entrance. A grunt was about to walk in but was shot dead. 

                           Fang walked into the house they crashed into. There was two jackal skirmishers and they held plasma rifles. He fired a shot into one of the jackals. The jackal fell back and slumped against the wall. The other jackal fired a shot at Fang. He sidestepped and the shot only hit his shoulder piece. He fired a shot into the jackals gut and then another in the cheek. The jackal tumbled to the ground. The four marines and Marquis walked out and saw he killed them all. They lowered their guns and walked over to him and they all walked over to the door. They all noticed the half eaten civilians and turned away from them. Fang pulled opened the door and looked at the battle. Marines ran at covenant positions and were being flambéed. A squad of marines ran at a covenant position on an hill and killed the gunners in the turrets. Then an elite materialized and lumbered towards them. They fired at the elite but his shield held up. He slashed one of the marines and shouldered another and he went flying. He kicked the third and he tumbled down the hill. He slashed the fourth and picked up the fifth and tossed him. He turned back on his camo and a group of grunts replenished the position. Fang turned to the marines. "Stay here and don't let the covenant get back in." He told them and they nodded and ran to a window. Fang motioned for marquis to follow and they prepared themselves for the run. They sprinted out and ran towards a group of UNSC foxholes. The plasma flew over their heads as they ran. The two soldiers leaped into one of the foxholes. There were four marines in the foxhole. One of the marines was comforting a marine who was having a panic attack. One of the other marines was peeking out of his cover and fired shots with his MA5C assault rifle. The other was expanding the foxhole with his spade. The marine with the MA5C turned and walked over to Fang and Marquis. "I'm glad you two are here, we need the help." He said and another marine jumped into the trench. "My names axel and the covenant are to well prepared for this." He said and they nodded and he looked to the guy helping the other marine. "I have a radio but it won't work because I didn't refill the battery." He said and Fang pulled a couple battery's out of his pocket. He tossed it to the marine and he put the battery's in the radio. "Hello, is anybody there, we need assistance with a covenant force at sector five-eight" He said into the radio and there was only static. Then they started to hear a voice. "we are on the way!" A female voice said and the marine turned to them and nodded. "I-Is h-h-help on t-the way?" The marine said voice shaking. "Yes their on the way." The man with the radio said and the marine nodded. The marine with the MA5C went back to check on the covenant attackers. He realized that the covenant stopped firing at them and turned their backs on them. "I think the help is here." He said and the marines and ODST's nodded.
