They walked through the forest and towards the enemy's next fort. Soon they approached a large group of dead brutes and ODST's. The ODST's were torn apart and covered in plasma burns. The brutes were peppered with bullet holes all over their bodies. Then Marquis recognized one of the bodies and ran over to him. He pulled off the man's helmet and saw his face. "Sean?" He asked and the man opened his eyes and looked at him. "Mark?" He asked him and he nodded and took off his helmet. Sean smiled and grabbed Marquis's arm. "Was this everyone?" Marquis asked him and he nodded as they both looked at the dead ODST's that surrounded them. "At least you made it Sean." He said and hugged him and Sean winced in pain. Marquis instantly let go of him and looked at his body. He was covered in blood and plasma burns, more importantly a large pink glassy shard stuck in his rib. Otomee ran over and knelt next to Sean. "I will take out the shard but make sure he doesn't move. It will kill him if it detonates." Otomee told him and he nodded. "Why the hell is he helping us?" He asked and Marquis remembered that he didn't know about the alliance. "All the elites sided with the UNSC and are helping us end the covenant." He said and he nodded and looked at the elites that surrounded him. "And why exactly are they helping us?" He asked as he looked around him. "There was a great schism and they were betrayed by the profits." He informed him and he nodded and looked at Otomee.
He watched as the elite put his hands around the shard and started to carefully pull it out. Sean yelled in pains and tried to move. Another Marine came and helped hold him down. He helped Marquis hold him down, as Otomee pulled the shard out inch by inch. Sean continued to yelled in pain as he finally pulled the shard out. He turned and threw it as far as possible and it bounced until coming to a stop. It sat for a second and then detonated. Trees were covered in the shards, pink dust. A medic came and wrapped Sean's wounds in bandages. He stabbed a pain reliever in his neck and Sean stood up. He followed everyone as they walked through the forest.
Soon they came across a disturbing thing. The looked at the brutes who all headless and their heads were stabbed on wooden posts. Their limbs were severed and placed all over. Their blood was covered on the trees and ground. "Who did this?" Sotomee questioned and a voice rose over it all. "Who do you think Sotomee?" The voice questions and a group of elites revealed themselves. They wore gold and red armor and armed with a double tipped spear.
