"You got into another fight, Chisaki? They're saying the other guy's in critical condition, you know."

Chisaki calmly bandaged his knuckles. "I had to deal with an idiot who stepped on our turf. Lately, there are more and more of them who aren't aware of us. We have to make our presence known."

The older man and original head of the Shie Hassaikai, Pops, could only let out a weary sigh. "I'm not as ignorant as you might think. I know you've started a secret venture without telling me. Didn't I always tell you not to get involved with drugs? I understand this is your way of trying to repay me for taking you in, but you're going overboard. You must remember not to stray from my path."

Chisaki just didn't understand. Pops was simply too soft at times. If they kept on clinging to their ideals, it would eventually drive them to extinction. He refused to let that happen. Pops deserved better than this. The Shie Hassaikai deserved better than this.

He was going to do whatever it took to restore the group to its former glory.

Chisaki had always been smart. Not only that, but he was incredibly driven as well. So, when someone with the perfect Quirk to achieve his plan-Eri-fell right into his lap, he knew he had to capitalize on the opportunity.

Eri's Quirk granted her the ability to rewind time. She was still young, with little to no control over it, but it didn't matter. Through rigorous experimentation, Chisaki was eventually able to refine a prototype for the product he'd envisioned. Bullets with the ability to rob someone of their Quirk.

Eager to share his progress, he eventually filled Pops in on his plan.

"First, we'll take the prototypes we've obtained through our research and give the outside world a taste," Chisaki explained. "Our product grants the ability to render those hero-types utterly powerless, and there are undoubtedly many who would desire such a thing. Fueled by hunger and greed, they'll be willing to purchase the completed product from us at ridiculously high prices. Soon, word will spread that there is a product out there that completely extinguishes Quirks. And once that starts to go around, we can reveal that we also have a serum that rewinds that damage and restores lost Quirks. For the hero side, we offer the serum. To the villain side, guns and our Quirk-erasing bullets. With Eri's body at the center of it all, we can monopolistically control the market! And once we do that, the Shie Hassaikai can finally emerge from the darkness-"

"Chisaki." Contrary to what he'd been expecting, Pops' tone of voice was absurdly cold, and his expression had gone rigid. "I already told you no. To put a little girl through such a thing... what are humans to you? Where has your humanity gone?"

Chisaki could feel his heart sink as Pops uttered the next words.

"If you're going to disobey our way of thinking, then you should just leave."

All I've ever wanted to do was repay you. I appreciate everything you've done for me, so much more than you'll ever know.

That day, Chisaki used his Quirk to put Pops in a coma. It was for the best. He cared about him more than he could express and never wanted to hurt him, but he clearly wasn't seeing reason yet. Once Chisaki's plan finally came to fruition, he would understand, and he would thank him.

As for where Chisaki's humanity had gone...

Honestly, he didn't know.
