"Hey, Kirishima! Check it out, dude! You made the news after you saved all those people the other day! That's freaking amazing!"
Kaminari grinned ear-to-ear while holding up his phone, which was opened up to a tab featuring a news article. It was the same story that Kirishima had told you about yesterday, where he'd run into a villain during his patrol and had no choice but to act. That strange case with the Quirk-erasing drug that had been used on Tamaki. Evidently, it was garnering a lot of attention, and rightfully so. Kirishima was definitely a hero through and through.
"So manly," you couldn't help but gush. Kirishima's cheeks reddened, and even though he wasn't one to get overly flustered, your words had a way of resonating with him.
"I just did what was expected of me," he mumbled. "I'd be lying if I said I didn't feel at least a bit scared in the moment... but I'm glad no one got hurt. You really think my actions were manly?"
"Of course. I'm sure I would've been blown away if I was there to see what happened. You're incredible, Kirishima-kun." You leaned closer and playfully poked his cheek. "I'll keep reminding you, no matter how many times I have to do it."
His blush deepened, but he managed a bright smile nonetheless. Apparently, he wasn't the only one to have been featured in the news. Uraraka and Tsuyu had recently gotten some exposure during their internships too.
As for yourself, well...
Nobody knew it, but your internship experience had been the most eventful by far. Dying and coming back to life wasn't an everyday occurrence, after all.
Naturally, you were still scared of Chisaki. You couldn't pretend like you were immune to fear, nor had you been able to get over your trauma in such a short span of time. But seeing the exploits of your friends and classmates-their bravery and devotion towards saving others-motivated you to do the same.
Instead of running from your fear, you learned from it and turned it into a weapon that would push you to work harder than ever before.
"Can everyone shut the hell up already?" Katsuki snapped. "You're all getting on my damn nerves, being loud as fuck first thing in the morning."
You flashed him a pitying look. "Aw. I know you're only saying that because you don't have your provisional license yet, so you feel left out. Don't worry, Katsuki-kun. You'll get yours eventually."
"Is that supposed to make me feel better or some shit? Because it sounds like you're just rubbing salt in my wounds."
"I guess we'll never know," you shrugged.
He angrily mashed his teeth, but didn't curse you out or give you the middle finger, which coming from him, was a shocking display of maturity. It honestly made you a bit proud to see how far he'd come. He was still a hotheaded little grump, that much was for sure, but you could tell that he'd really grown to value all the people in his life.
"It's enough to make me cry," you sniffled, pretending to wipe away an invisible tear.
Katsuki scrunched up his nose. "I don't know what the hell you're on about, but for some reason, it pisses me off."
Juggling both school and internships was a lot easier said than done, and that was even putting aside the issue of Sir Nighteye's investigation on the Shie Hassaikai. You were starting to fall behind in your classwork, something you didn't even realize until Present Mic announced that he would be collecting your English assignments.
"That was due for today?" you chuckled nervously.
"Hm? I've never seen you miss out on your homework, [Name]. I guess the internships are a lot more challenging than you expected, huh?" He flashed you a cheeky grin, looking anything but sympathetic. "Sorry, but I'm afraid I can't exempt you, or anyone else! If it starts to get too rough, I hear Eraserhead might be willing to hold some supplementary lessons."
