TOMMY brushed his hands against his black and white suit, smoothing it over. It had been two days and although still a bit under the weather Tommy felt better than he did the first day he knew he was getting sick. Tommy didn't like wearing suits and he was not the formal attire type but Shakurr insisted that they dressed for "funeral" since they were going to spread the ashes. Tommy grabbed his wallet and phone quickly shoving it in his pocket as he walked out the door of his room and towards the front door to meet Shakurr outside.
Shakurrr beeped the horn playfully making Tommy shake his head and open the door to the passenger seat getting in.
"Nigga don't be honking at me." Tommy joked making Shakurr laugh as he looked back and reversed out of the drive way.
"What was taking you so long?" Shakurr asked glancing at Tommy
"I don't like wearing suits man, I don't feel right" Tommy said shaking his head and pulling his jacket sleeves down.
"You look fine, formal attire fits you." Shakurr assured making Tommy wave him off, Tommy leaned back staring out the window.
"You know I could drove myself?" Tommy told Shakurr after a few seconds of silence.
"Yeah but I was worried since you've been sick and all and it's better me then August." Shakurr said, Tommy chuckled nodding in agreement.
"Yeah you right about that"
"You sure we doing the right thing?" Shakurr asked looking over at Tommy as they stopped at the red light."Right thing about what?"
"Not telling mom we spreading Dad ashes." Tommy sighed.
"I honestly don't know, I don't think we should do it behind her back but I also don't think there's a purpose to her knowing. What would even be her response?" Shakurr nodded taking it all in.
"I guess it doesn't feel right because he was apart of her life too."
"A bad memory though...I don't wanna bring up anything bad for her. She ain't tell us our dad died for a reason as soon as it happens, she probably got her own feelings about him."
"Yeah that's fair. You think August gone show up?"
"He told you he was coming right?" Shakurr nodded."He told me."
"So he'll come, I don't know if he gone like it but he'll come."
"I ain't do it only for me, I think we all deserve to say our feelings to him. Good or bad. We deserve that."
"Yeah I feel you. You been aight though?" Shakurr shrugged.
"I could be better, got into argument with Tanya again and almost got into a fight with some random dude she was with." Tommy sighed shaking his head.
