SHAKURR eyes fluttered open as he looked around. He stared down at himself , confused on why he was hooked up to machines and lying in a hospital bed. What had happened to him? Shakurr feeling tired and thirsty as he laid his head back down quickly staring up at the ceiling. He didn't remember how he got to the hospital but Shakurr remembered the events leading up to it. Shakurr shut his eyes banging his head on the pillow as everything August said came rushing back to his memory. He couldn't believe, he couldn't believe all this time August had to go through that and no one knew anything, no one helped him.
All his pushing, talking about his father, the camping trip? Shakurr didn't understand how he couldn't so blind and stupid. How he didn't pick up on it earlier, everything made sense now. It was all his fault, he pushed August too hard and made him relive the worst moments of his life over and over again and all for what? Stupid closure. Closure from a guy who didn't only abandon them, but harmed his older brother. Someone he admired, and loved, and cared for as if that was his own father. Shakurr blinked away tears as he balled up his fist and laid in the hospital bed.
"You up?" Shakurr heard as he looked up and saw his best friend Gemini, Shakurr couldn't help the small smile that formed on his face once he saw him. They didn't talk much these days and rarely hung out due to Shakurr being in school and Gemini being a young father along with his girlfriend.
"Yeah man, what you doing here?" Gemini smiled as they clapped hands."When Tommy told me the news you know I dropped everything to come see you. Plus ya mama work and Tommy work, someone needs to look out for you."
"Thanks." Shakurr said lowkey as Gemini shook his head."We've been boys since we was kids, ain't no reason to thank me." Gemini said grabbing a cup and pouring some water from the jug in it.
"You thirsty?" Shakurr nodded as Gemini handed him the cup and sat down, Shakurr sat up a little adjusting himself before he started drinking.
"I heard you had a panic attack or some shit like that, it was so bad it triggered a seizure?" Gemini questioned as Shakurr hung his head low.
"Yeah." Shakurr muttered lowly, Gemini sucked his teeth.
"Ain't no reason to be ashamed of, everybody reach the breaking point. We only human man." Gemini said patting Shakurr back as Shakurr nodded.
"Yeah I know that, I just hate that I get like that." Gemini nodded.
"I can understand that..I can but you'll be good. I promise. You always been a sensitive nigga but you was never soft." Shakurr smiled a bit as he set the cup down and laid back down.
