Race Day Conintued...
Isabelle's POV
"Ok why did you suddenly disappear when Senna showed up?" I eye Viv up and down as we walk towards the paddocks.
"I saw my favourite treat from when I was a child, I couldn't just pass it up! Plus I figured you could use some private Ayrton time," She replies with a smirk.
"Not this again" I say groaning, "I told you nothing happened between us, there is nothing happening between us, and there is nothing that will ever happen between us."
"That's not what your eyes were saying before..." Viv just says in a sing-song voice before moving faster, making me have to catch up to her rolling my eyes as I do.
We link our arms again and walk in sync around the paddock, watching as everyone was getting set up for the race. Most of the racers were overlooking final details on their cars which I always found interesting, there was something alluring about someone being so passionate about something. Maybe that was just from watching and listening to Senna, he had such a way of talking about his car and racing that made the world slow down. Think of the devil and the devil shall appear,
"Look there's Ayrton, let's go say hi!" Viv says to me, trying to drag me in the direction I had already been looking.
"Let's not, he's clearly with his family right now," I say trying to pull back from her, looking for any excuse to not go over to them.
"Oh come on, you said nothing is going on between you and you guys were coworkers for a year so. it wouldn't be weird if you went to say hi."
"Yes it would, we disappeared from each others lives and like I said he's with his family it wouldn't feel right to meet them."
"I'm pretty sure they want to meet you," she replied in a tone that confused me.
"How could you possibly know that?" Things weren't adding up to me, something was very very wrong.
Unfortunately for me, it looked like the younger man by Senna saw us and started waving and before I know it he was meeting us halfway as I was dragged along. We were right within Senna's earshot when the young man reached us,
"Hey Vivs, we've been waiting for you!"
I look between them, clearly confused as she looks down biting her lip, before the man gives her a side hug in a way I knew all too well. After all I had a brother...
"What are you talking about? Viv, how do you know them?" I ask her in a clear accusatory tone, she knew that I figured it out.
She grabbed my arm to stop me from leaving and it was that moment that I knew I was right. My heart tightened, the one friend I felt like I could have lied to me, even after I told her things that only my Aunty knew, things about what happened at Toleman, things that happened with Senna, and everything that went on with my family and Aunt. I told her what Johnny did to me when only Senna and my Aunty knew, I felt weak and wanted to forget but we shared a deep moment. It felt like she was manipulating me into forgiving Senna and using me for her brother.
"Oh um well you know I'm from here so of course..." she starts before I cut her off pulling my arm away from her grip, her eyes watering and for a moment I felt regret.
"Don't!" I say loudly before continuing softer as I know I gained the attention of many that were in earshot, "just don't. 13 million people live here, you don't just go around knowing everyone enough to say hi with nicknames."
I could feel my face heat up in anger, my throat becoming tight, and stinging becomes prevalent behind my eyes as I wait for her to answer. At this point Senna's family were staring at us, with some people around also watching since I was loud before. I couldn't look away from her as I watch tears fall down her face with her arms holding her stomach. Her other brother putting an arm around her to try and comfort her. The man beside her looks at me in shock,
