FALSE CONFESSION - Chapter 32: Longing.

YEWON didn't like how the supposed time out to heal has made her anxious. It's only been a few days. Could she have known she would suffer like this, Yewon would beg of him to at least keep in contact with her. Not knowing what the other person is thinking and feeling is frighteningly worrying. He may like her then but what if it fades as time passes by without them spending time together? Even for a short moment.
"Oh,"
Yewon snaps up at a startling voice ahead of her. In front of her, stands Runa, gaping and closing her mouth not knowing what to say. It seemed she didn't expect to run into her by the way she took a small step back and hugged the books she borrowed from the library close to her chest.
Noticing Runa still wanting to avoid her, Yewon didn't take a step forward and just stayed where she is. She now understands Runa's heart to heart talk under the tree behind the library: As someone who always has their eyes on Jimin, she probably realized sooner than herself, about Jimin's true feelings. Yewon wouldn't blame her if Runa wishes to keep a distance between them from now on.
How hurt must that be, to stand in between her boyfriend and a friend whom her own boyfriend harbors feelings for?
"Now that exams are over, you can read as much as you want." Yewon smiles with her teeth showing.
Runa gapes for a moment before biting her lower lips. She tries not to cry as she forms a smile towards Yewon too.
"Yeah, it's awesome." she says. "Much better, when I have lots of spare time to read." she added as her smile faltered.
Yewon holds herself from asking and waiting for Runa to speak to her more.
"Jimin and I ... " she sighs. Runa glances at Yewon and when she sees her calm face, she understands that Yewon knew.
"We broke up." she brace herself to face Yewon. When Yewon opens her mouth, Runa immediately says, "It's because we are not for each other."
"You know, how there are couples whose relationship works out at the first go and there are also couples whose relationship didn't work out at the first try?"
Yewon slowly nods.
"We are the latter. Simply say, we aren't meant to be together that's why. So it's no one's fault and I'm sorry... I took it out on you back then, at the library..." Runa is done assuring Yewon none of it was her fault but her throat soon felt dry the moment she thought of the poster.
"I..."
"It's okay, Runa. I understand and I am sorry too, for not realizing what's happening around me and causes you to feel hurt by it."
"It's not your fault."
Yewon shook her head. She strongly disagrees.
"I'm going to look properly now. So, will you forgive me... and be my friend again?"
"What?" Runa choked on her tears inside. "When did I unfriend you?"
"You were avoiding me."
"Well..." Runa looks up, trying to hold back her tears. Why did Yewon always one step ahead of her? She was the one who should apologize. She was the one who should ask to befriend her again. Not Yewon.
"I really should be the one asking to be your friend again, not you."
"When did I unfriend you?" Yewon returns the question as a joke.
