PUTTING DOWN your cold glass, you noticed Jimin leaned forward. You quietly watch him hesitating again before he sighs heavily and quickly asks,

“How can I not know you like Taehyung?” Jimin frowned. “So far, the only guy friend you have is me.” he added.

His last sentence flattered you. He noticed you only befriends him! The one and only closest guy friend you have!

“You should have told me if you like someone. As a friend, I can help you.. you know?” Jimin sounded upset you didnʼt seek his help as a friend.

A friend. To him, you are just a friend.

So even if he had offered this earlier, you will never seek his help. Why? Because tell me, why would you want a guy you like helping you tackle a guy you donʼt like?

“But... Seeing you got the grim reaper without any help, I should at least congratulate you.” Jimin raised his glass of iced tea.

You only watch him, unable to utter a word ever since he mentioned Taehyung. The fact that he was going to congratulate you.. make you think if its the end of you liking him.

Only when Jimin gestured for you to mimic his action, you raised your glass unwillingly.

Clink.

The glass collided. The ices scattered due to collision. You watch it representing your own feelings at the moment — your hope to have him like you back shattered when he said the word friend.

Whenever he introduced you as his friend to others, you see hope to change the title friend to lover. What about when he told you himself he sees you as a friend? Is the hope there still?

“I wish a happy relationship for you and Taehyung.” says Jimin, smiling at you brightly.

Your fingers clenched tightly around the glass. That bright smile. The smile is strong enough to make you either fall hard on him or pierced through your feelings. Todayʼs case, its the latter.

“Ah~ now I want a girlfriend too. I have been single for...” Jimin whined then paused to count before continuing, “for a year and nine months.”

His antic made you smile then giggle. Now that he mentioned it, you wonder how come he is still single? He have had a girlfriend from middle school but broke up.. for reasons you donʼt know. Anyway, every girls in your school been lining up to be his girlfriend. So...

Should I ask? You hesitate. Ask away, it wonʼt hurt to know. A voice in your heart ushered.

“Donʼt you have someone you like?”

Looking straight at you, pouty Jimin suddenly became serious. Firmly he answered, “I do.”

Okay its a lie. It hurts to know he likes someone! Who could that be? You thought sadly. A year and nine months he was single, also a year and nine months you were trying..

Its a hopeless desire now, to have him like you.

“Do you think I should make a move?”

Wow this shit really hurt. How do you respond to a guy you like asking if he should ask a girl out? Say no. Prevent it from happening.

“Of course. You should try your best.” you faked the encouraging smile. If you said no, thatʼs a stupid move.

While you were smiling, Jimin remained firm. He also wouldnʼt take off his determined gaze on you. Then he asked a question that threw you off.
