YEWON’S mother came out from the kitchen, when her daughter walked straight to the door. She follows from behind then asks,
“You’re not having breakfast?”
Yewon halts.
“...No,” she turned to her mother, “Sorry...” and grins apologetically.
Her mother only smiled with a small sigh.
“Look at you, did you even sleep last night?” Mrs. Kang pushed her daughter’s hair behind. Yewon only lets her chest length hair flowing free. And that sight made her look gloomy.
“Come, let me braid your hair.” she decided to turn her daughter around and make her sit on a bench by the door.
“Wear your shoes while I braid. This is easy peasy~” Mrs. Kang instructed more before Yewon could refuse. A smile stretches on both mother daughter faces while each of them do their work.
“See, done in less than a minute.” Mrs. Kang grins proudly before she stands to open the door while Yewon picks her bag.
Soon after, she was surprised to see her mother standing in front of the door facing her, instead of standing by the door she always does when seeing her off. Her mother seemed to eye her up and down.
“Where’s your lip balm?”
Without asking why, Yewon brings her bag forward and unzips the small pocket at the front. A collagen lip balm gifted by Mrs. Kang last Christmas was taken out and handed to her.
Mrs. Kang opens the lid and immediately applies it on Yewon’s bare lips. A fresh pinkish color pops up according to Yewon’s current body temperature, making her mother nod in approval as she returns her lip balm.
“You’re good to go baby.” Mrs. Kang proceeds to kiss her right cheek then whispers, “Go live your youth.” plus a giddy giggle, confusing Yewon even more.
Only when her mother steps aside Yewon finally sees, the Kim Taehyung is waiting for her on his mighty black bike.
Each step she takes, Yewon never let her eyes off of Taehyung and so did he. She can tell from his tired eyes, he too did not have a good sleep last night. Her heart sank when she saw his eyes soften at the same realization. That look of his also reminds her how he was here in front of her house the day Jimin came. She failed to send a text that she met Jimin at the library yesterday, but somehow, deep inside, she knows he knew of it.
“Morning,” still, his morning voice never fails to flutter her heart.
“Morning,” Yewon returns his greeting with the sweetest smile ever and she intentionally touches his hands while taking the helmet from him.
Taehyung cleared his throat.
“Nervous for Chemistry?” His hand and arm provide support for Yewon to climb on the bike yet his eyes are 'busy' wandering around the neighborhood — aimlessly.
“Um, not as much as physics.” Yewon safely settled down behind him. She cautiously watched his reaction as she slowly circled her hands around his waist. When he didn’t brush her off, Yewon said her next words, “You know, there’s a reason why I don’t quite excel in Chemistry.”
“...Why?” Taehyung swallowed his saliva nervously when his girlfriend acted so differently this morning.
“Because... my chemistry is with you.”
Their eyes locked.
One with hopeful eyes, one with disbelief eyes. But there is one similarity: both their cheeks slowly burning up. Or perhaps, there are two similarities, because their lips curled inside as their cheeks slowly puffed up before the air burst out into laughter.
