Aidan waved me goodbye and I headed to the library, taking the long way though to put another note in Aidan's locker. I slipped it in and hurried down the hall because I heard some girls laughing around the corner. I couldn't risk anyone seeing me, I was a very cautious person. Even if it wasn't about my crush on Aidan.
I walked into the library and Lucas waved me over, a girl was sitting next to him. She was very pretty, she had beautiful auburn curls, that wasn't too powerful though. She had freckles on the bridge of her nose and bright green eyes. Her skin was like mine, pale but not to pale. She looked at me curiously, a little threatening, but still kind and approachable. She gave a sweet smile to me when I sat down, but something told me she didn't like me. At least not now.
"Aurora, this is my girlfriend" he said, putting an arm around her shoulders. "Amy. Amy, this is the little freshmen I told you about." She seemed to relax now and actually smile, not a forced one.
"Oh goodness" she sighed and put a hand to her heart. "I was a little worried. It's nice to meet you Aurora." She held her hand which I gladly took.
"It's nice to meet you too" I said. "Why would you be worried?"
Her cheeks pinked prettily, "well it's just I get nervous whenever I see Lucas with other girls. You know how it is."
"You know you're the only girl I love" he said. "Wait, scratch that, there are 3. You, my mom, and my baby sister." She giggled and lightly punched his arm. "Plus, as far as I can tell, Aurora here is working her way into Aidan's heart" Lucas teased, I tried not to blush, I stuck my tongue out at him instead.
Amy laughed again, "so this is the 'project partner'?" She put quotation marks around project partner. She scanned me over a few times then looked at Lucas. "I approve of her. She has big innocent, kind eyes." Lucas nodded in agreement.
"Did I miss something" I asked, looking from Amy to Lucas.
"The psychology survey" Amy said. "That was my idea, so we could see if he falls for you. And I approve of you two dating." I starting blushing madly, my whole face was probably red as an apple. "Aw, I think I embarrassed her" Ame said apologetically with an amused smile.
"She gets embarrassed easily" Lucas said.
Amy looked over her shoulder, it seemed like her class was leaving. She sighed and kissed Lucas' cheek. "I gotta go" she smiled at me and waved as she walked away. "Hope we see more of each other Aurora!"
"She's nice" I said awkwardly, still trying to recover from the water-balloon that was thrown in my face. She made up the survey? Was Aidan talking about me to his friends? She approved of me? I couldn't decide if this was good or not. I want to believe it was good, but something in me told me there was something that was going to go wrong.
"She's great" Lucas said smiling, he was completely love struck. Head-over-heels, do anything she asked kind of love struck. I thought about what kind of love/like I had for Aidan. Was it the deep kind of love that Lucas had for Amy? Or was it just a the kind of high school love that you forget about in a year? Somewhere in between? I realized I was head-over-heels, but how could I make Aidan love me the way Lucas loves Amy?
