I yawned and rubbed my eyes, checking the clock on my wall. It was almost noon. I stretched getting out of bed. I grabbed my phone and went into the bathroom down the hall. Huh, 8 new messages. I groaned as I saw they were all from Ashley, that crazy lil... Did she not get I wasn't into her anymore? I deleted them without seeing what they said and started brushing my teeth.My phone started to vibrate, almost falling into the sink. I answered quickly, from the panic of it almost falling into water.
"Hewwo" I asked, trying to speak with my mouth full of toothpaste.
"Dude what are you doing" Lucas said. "I told you never to talk will your mouth full, you sound like an idiot right now." I spit out the toothpaste and tried to say hi again, but he kept talking. "Dude this is so not good. So not good."
"Why" I asked, trying to seem interested. Usually I didn't give a rat's ass about what he thought was 'a big deal'.
"You know that dude that we saw Aurora with from the party" he asked, but didn't bother waiting for my reply. "Well today I was dragged along to go shopping, cause you know that every other week Amy decides what we do on Saturday to keep it fair-"
"Cut to the chase Lucas" I snapped. I did NOT feel like listening to him drone on about his relationship right now.
"Well anyway, I finally dragged her into a store I like and she actually found stuff and went to try them on." I was about to tell him to get to the point, but he just kept on talking. "And then I see Aurora walking in and was gonna say hi, but she's with that dude from the party."
I started frowning, why was she with him. "Well um what do you want me to do" I mumbled, not wanting him to start thinking things. "It's not like we're dating.. She can hang out with whoever she wants. I don't own her."
"Oh cut the crap Aidan" he snapped. "You like her and I can tell you hate that she's with that guy. Now act like a man and get your ass over here before he asks her out." He hung up, probably knowing I'd be there in less than 10 minutes. I groaned and practically ran to my room to change into something. Grabbing jeans off the floor I started to do that weird dance to get them on, why did I have to pick one of the few pairs of skinny jeans I own up? I grabbed a random shirt and shoved my head through the hole. I put my black convers on, running downstairs to get to my car.
"Bye mom going to the mall with some friends" I yelled as I grabbed my keys off the hooks and rushing to my car. I couldn't just speed to the mall like some madman, it look about 7 minutes since it wasn't that big of a town. I tried to not look like I was rushing, but from the weird looks I kept getting I assumed I DID look like I was some kind of speed racer. I dialed Lucas' number, "dude where are they?"
"I think they were heading towards the food court" he said, I hung up and started to speed walk to the food court. Scanning the crowd over 5 times I finally saw them in the freaking middle of the food court. Almost completely hidden in the mass of people. Walking over I started to hear what they were saying.
"I still can't believe you let that guy just drag you out of the party" that dude said, picking up a french fry and throwing it at her.
"I thought we agreed not to talk about Aidan" she said, throwing the fry back at him. "Besides he's a really cool guy." She smiled a little, taking a sip of her drink. "He was just worried cause we kinda got in a tiny fight before I stumbled upon you and your friends.
He did a one ha laugh, "you mean the idiots that I have no clue why I hang out with?" She laughed and nodded. He smiled, one of those smiles where you're looking at someone you like. "You have a cute laugh." The she started blushing and took another sip of her drink. That's when I reached the table.
"What the hell" I almost yelled, but I didn't want to cause too much of a scene.
Blade started to scowl at me, while Aurora looked surprised, but smiled at me. "Hey Aidan, whatcha doing here?"
"I was just around." I didn't want to explain why I rushed over when Lucas told me she was with some guy she met at a party. I mean I don't like her like like her, but he seemed like bad news. "I saw you with this... thing" I gestured towards the guy across from her, he frowned more.
"What's your problem" he snapped at me. "If you didn't notice, she's fine. Have you ever thought maybe she wants to be with me?" He stood up, pushing his chair back quite a bit. He was only a couple inches shorter than me.
"Maybe because she's too cool to be around someone like you." I smirked as I saw the anger building in him.
Aurora sighed and slumped in her chair, slightly pouting and glaring at the table. "You know what" she snapped, getting both of our attention. "You're both acting like babies and I don't babysit. So bye, call me when you two can be in the same room without wanting to throw a punch." With that she walked towards one of the exists. She pulled out a phone and held it to her ear. My shoulders slumped as she went outside.
"Gee thanks" he said sarcastically. "We were actually having a good time until you showed up and ruined it all" He shoved me a little. "Why did you have to come bug us anyway?"
"Why should I trust you" I snapped at him. "You're just some random guy she met at a party. I actually know her. Now bye." I tried to walk towards the exit Aurora walked out of, but this moron wouldn't let me.
"No" he said, blocking me from leaving. "It's obvious you like her or are starting to, and you're just lucky she's naive and blind to just about everything. I'm going to ask her out and I'm not going to let you ruin it."
Mt eyes narrowed, "well I'm not going to let you date her."
He smirked and folded his arms, "well sorry to say, but there's nothing you can do to stop me."
I pushed past him, "just watch me." With that we both started running towards the exist. He got in front of me when I accidentally ran into someone, quickly I apologized and continued running. Pushing the door open, I saw the angry party guy and no Aurora. I smiled, knowing that at least I'd be able to see her Monday or tonight if I drove to her house. "Looks like you missed her." He just glared at me and started walking towards the parking lot. I realized that my car was on the other side of the mall and ran back in to get to my car.
After a couple of minutes I got to the parking lot and ran towards my car. Now I did start driving like a maniac. I drove straight to her house, parking in front of it. "Shit" I said under my breath when I saw the car in the driveway, he was probably already inside. Instead of knocking, I just walked right in, "look Aurora I wanted to-"
I stopped in my tracks when I saw a woman standing in the kitchen with Aurora. "Aidan" she asked, surprised that either I was here or that I just barged in. Probably both.
"Oh is this one of your little friends dear" the women said in an overly cheery voice. I squinted a bit, looking closely at the woman. She had the same eyes as Aurora, but they didn't seem as kind. Her hair was darker brown, and in a tight bun. She had lots of freckles and was only slightly taller than Aurora.
"Um yeah, this is Aidan" she said awkwardly. "Aidan this is my mom."
