Secret Marriage

masi's back

Nikita POV:

I was in my room, in my nightwear, on call with Aai when I saw my door open and see Mayukh walk in and close my door. What's he doing here?

"Nikku, are you listening?" Aai said through the screen.
"Haan, yeah" I was brought back into reality. "I'm listening, tell."
She continued talking while I could see Mayukh make himself comfortable on my bed, looking at me. I couldn't pay attention to Aai anymore.
"Aai... I'll.. I'll call you tommorow. I'm sleepy."
Before I could cut the call, Mayukh took the phone and started talking to Aai.
"Namaste aunty, I'm Mayukh, Nikita's....friend." I felt the hesitation to say friends.
We weren't friends. We were husband and wife. We were a couple who he didn't want. I'm his burdened wife.
"Hi beta. How are you? How is everything?" Aai asked.
I watched them talk for almost 10 minutes; she didn't even know she's talking to her son-in-law. She never will. After 10 minutes, Aai cut the call and I saw Mayukh looking at me with intense eyes. Is he angry?

"I need to talk to you. Right now." He said, very assertively.
"Ye-ah." I stammered. His anger was scary.
"Why have you been off the entire day?"
"I haven't." I said and got up, trying to keep the distance between us.
"Nikita, are you fine?"
"Yes I am."
By now he got up as well, we both were standing in front of each other, but he kept closing the distance.
"You... you shouldn't be here." I tried to say.
"Why not?" He smirked.
"Because.... I... You can't." I stepped back and he came closer.
"You're tied to me Nikita. Run away from it; it doesn't change the truth."
"No. We... I told you we're free."
"That doesn't mean I won't be concerned about you."
"I'm fine."
"I'm trusting you. If I find out that you aren't-" He came close to me, "Apne aap se dur nahi jaane dunga Nikita." He said and caressed
my face and left the room.

I stayed in shock. Did he just do that? I distracted my thoughts and went to sleep.

Mayukh POV:

The next day, I woke up lazily. It was my first day of classes and I was ready. We all sat and had breakfast and I watched Nikita eat silently.

"What courses are you guys doing by the way?" Sid asked.

"Artificial Intelligence and Data Science" Nikita and I said at the same time. We looked at each other and she instantly looked down.
"Oh wow! Same class!"
"I'm doing AI with Cyber Security. Some modules will be similar to you guys." Esha said.
"All you computer science people!" Sid teased.
"Chalo let's go to class now!"

We got our stuff and headed off to class. I noticed Nikita walking silently and walked next to her.

"Come, we have the same class." I said and she walked with me. "How are you?"  
"I'm good."
"Listen, stay away from cooking."
"Why?"
"I've noticed it. You get scared by fire. Is it because of your aunt?"
"Yes."
"What did she do with fire?" Deep down I didn't want to know that answer.
I saw her slowly take her hands to her top and slowly start lifting it, but before she could, she stopped, looked at me and then pulled it back down and continued walking.
"What was that?" I said, catching up to her.
"Nothing, let's go to class." She said and walked very fast and entered the classroom.

I stood in doubt as to what she tried to show me. Did her aunt do anything? Was something wrong? Why is she so reserved around me when I've seen the most vulnerable side of her.

I walked into class and saw a couple of guys and my old school friends and went and sat with them. I noticed her sitting with a few girls and Esha. I'm glad Esha is there with her. I gave Esha a smile and acknowledged her and then went to my own group.

After class ended, Nikita had walked out with Esha and I stayed with the guys chatting. We made plans of going out tonight and decided to meet up later. Just when I was leaving, I saw Nikita in the corridor standing alone and on call with someone. She looked scared and worried. What is happening to her?!

I walked over to her but before I could reach her, Armaan, my friend, came and pulled me aside. I noticed her walking back home in a hurry.

Nikita POV:

After I left class I got a call from Aai, who mentioned that Masi is coming to visit them. She had panicked and this called had panicked me too. I didn't know what Masi would do to them knowing that I've run away. I hurriedly called Aai and told her to leave the house and live with her brother and their family. Aais brother also hated Masi. Masi was cut off from everyone for her false promises, her behaviour and her addiction to money. She'd do anything for money. I found it best to keep Aai there.

I ran home and got on a call with Aai and explained everything to her. I told her I'd come back to India but she told me not to; to stay here and forget about the past. What should I do? There's no one here who knows my past except one person. My cousin sister, Nisha.

I instantly called Nisha and told her everything, about Masi coming and Aai telling me not to come to India. She said she'd handle it. She's the only one who knows about Mayukh. My marriage to him.

After talking to Nisha, I called Aai and kept asking for updates. They had moved into Mama's home and had locked and sealed their Indore home and felt better.

Then, I got to studying until Esha and all returned. I was alone today since everyone was out with friends; I didn't have the energy and mental strength for this. After a long study session, at around 10pm, I called Aai again, made sure everything is good and went to sleep.
