Nikita POV:
The event started. My meeting with Mr Gerard went so well. He said he was very impressed with my work and was ready to push my case ahead to get me hired as soon as my internship was done. I got very excited. I didn't even want to meet other companies. I want IBM.
As the event started, I watched Esha talk proudly while she presented and I couldn't help but take a few pictures of her. She looked so good. I noticed a table at the other end with two men sitting. They seemed very powerful. Everyone kept walking towards them to say hi. I noticed even Mr Gerard sitting on the same table as them. I shrugged my thoughts and continued making notes of the product launch for Esha. After an hour, the launch ended and there was a huge applaud in the crowd. I wanted to stay for more but I got a call from Mr Gerard asking me to meet him outside.
"Hi Sir." I noticed him standing with Sophia, they looked happy, "Is everything okay?"
"Yes dear don't worry. Sir wants you to walk with them. We want to introduce you to everyone."
"Oh my God! Really?"
"Of course. You're a bright talent. We wish to get you in the industry. Come, follow me." Mr Gerard said.
I followed him with Sophia by my side. We met a few people who were talking and we spoke well.
"Excuse me ladies, I just need to grab someone." Sir said while we continued talking.
After 5-10 minutes, Sir came back.
"Please this way, I'd like you to meet my two current brightest minds." I heard sir's voice.
I stepped back to let Sophia have her moment. She went forward with Mr Gerard as I stayed at the back, taking a look at the notes I wrote today.
"And this is Nikita.... Our current most brightest and most impactful intern." They said and I looked up.
I walked towards them and I came into the light and the sight in front of me made me freeze. I felt the ground below my feet vanish as I couldn't even stand.
"—Nikita, this is Mr Ruyash and Mr Mayukh Chaudary, the heads of MRC Industries." Mr Gerard said.
Oh God. I felt my heart beating rising and my feet losing balance. Mayukh?! Ruyash Bhai?! I couldn't even digest this fact when Sophia poked me slightly, as if saying answer. I instantly tried gathering myself.
"H..hello Sir. N..nice to.. meet you." I said, looking down.
I could feel his eyes on me. His eyes screamed anger. I couldn't look at him.
"She's been with us for 10 months now and we are very excited to have her on board as soon as her official internship phrase ends." Sophia said.
I saw them making conversation but Mayukh kept looking at me with his eyes darkening. He's angry.
He looked so different. His physical appearance had become better. More muscle yet still the right amount. His light brown eyes were darkening as he held his phone tightly. I gulped, wishing all this gets over soon.
Mayukh POV:
We were about to leave the hall when Mr Gerard called us. He mentioned he'd like us to meet his team and so bhai led us and we followed him to meet his team. I followed and saw him take us in the direction of the two women I had seen with him preciously. Even the black dress lady.
I stepped closer and suddenly her face came into view as she turned and my heart stopped. Her?
My eyes widened, as did hers when she saw bhai and me. I felt her fear increase and she couldn't answer until she was low-key poked by someone to answer.
"H..hello Sir. N..nice to.. meet you." Her voice trembled.
Anger filled me as I saw her. The thought of her running away played in my mind. Her letter, her necklace and ring which she left with me, everything replayed in my mind as I felt anger evident on my face. I missed her voice though.
But she looked beautiful. She'd lost weight but in the right places and her body looked more curvaceous now. I stared at her empty neck. I didn't know what to feel. She wouldn't meet my eyes, neither bhai's.
"— It was a pleasure to meet you again. Let's get in touch on Monday and discuss the project." I heard Mr Gerard say.
Bhai nodded and I saw them walk away, while my eyes were glued onto her.
"Nikita?" Bhai said, "why did you scare her Mayukh?"
"I didn't do anything Bhai."
"Your eyes are screaming anger. She looked so scared she couldn't even talk."
"A guilty person is always scared."
"What's she guilty of? Leaving her husband who refused to accept their marriage since day one?" Bhai scoffed and left.
Reality hit me.
I had no rights to be mad, but then why was I?
