Mayukh POV:

"Armaan! What is this?" I rushed over to see if there's anyone in the room. I only saw Ishaan and Rohan coming out from the bedroom and kitchen respectively.
"Relax. I found out the truth behind the letter." Armaan said, looking at Riya.
"You'd be wise to tell him everything now Riya, unless you want more issues." Ishaan added.
"What's going on guys!" I asked.
"It's best you hear it from her."

I saw Riya in tears. She looked at me and I looked at her in anger, demanding answers.
"Speak." I said slowly.
"Mayukh.... I—"
"Only the truth."
She sighed and carried on, "I'll tell you everything. I was always jealous of how close you were to Nikita. I knew you'd saved her life but I didn't like how much you ran behind her. She was a middle class girl and you are a high end boy. I had warned her from coming close to you because I wanted you."
I felt my anger rising.
"She didn't go near you but you did, and that boiled my blood and I took it out on her. I convinced her that you were only flirting and doing whatever just because you wanted to make her feel good and that she's a responsibility. I sensed she has feelings for you so I tried to crush them."
She had feelings for me?
"That day when you invited us home, I overheard your conversation with Armaan and found out about your marriage and the circumstances of it. I got heartbroken that you wanted to give it a try so when she came home, I told her you hate her. Then, when she came to you, I was going to poison her mind more but she heard your conversation about..."
"ABOUT." I screamed.
She got scared yet continued, "about...me...and how... you didn't want me..." She cried and said, "It hurt me but she thought that you were talking about her because Armaan then took your name in some context. She didn't see the ring he pointed at. I could see because of the mirror reflection. When I saw her leave the room crying, I poisoned her mind more and made her believe what she say. I made her believe you hate her. Then..."
"THEN?"
"Sorry... I... Then... I forged a letter on her name, and replaced it with the letter she wrote for you."
"Where is her letter?" I said through anger.
"He...here..." she said and handed me a paper. I opened it.

Dear Mayukh,
By the time you read this I'd be gone. Seems familiar doesn't it. I'm sorry to experience it again. I didn't mean to eavesdrop but I overheard your conversation with Armaan and I realized you don't want me around. I understand. I'm your forced wife and my relatives forced you even more. I'm moving. Don't ask me where, don't call me, let's move on. Thank you for taking care of me and doing so much for me. I don't think I'd ever be able to thank you enough for getting me through that traumatic experience in my life. I'll be fine, wherever I go. Since me being close to you annoys you, I'm giving you the distance you want.
Take care of yourself and your family, tell them I love them even though they don't know the truth of our marriage and tell them I'm sorry. I hope they can understand at some point. Take care of Bruno. I'll miss him.

I'm leaving the only proof and last nishaani of our marriage with you, my mangalsutra and sindoor. You can give it to your wife when you marry, or burn it.
Stay safe,
Nikita

My blood was boiling. I was fuming with anger. One whole year I stayed away from her because she was labelled as wrong. One entire year I could have found her but because of Riya's letter I didn't. I looked up with anger oozing from my eyes.

"How. Dare. You?" I asked.
"Ma...Mayukh... I just... I really like... you."
"I don't care. You lost your chance. You never had a chance. You knew about my wedding to her and you still separated her. How dare you?!"

"Hey hey easy." Armaan said and held my hand, "she's not worth it."
"I'm not letting this slide."
"Let it go. She's not worth it." Armaan said and I looked at him. There's clearly something he's hiding, so I agreed.
"Fine." I turned to Riya, "I want you out of my sight. For good. Don't even be in the same country as me. LEAVE." I shouted.
She cried and ran away.

"Why did you not let me do anything?" I asked Armaan.
"Because, I know she'll do something else. She's not the type to just stop. I may be wrong. She might have gotten scared, if that's the case then great, but if not then we need genuine proof to take her to court. This isn't enough, and I know if she revenge anger fuels she will do more and probably terrorize Nikita more, we'll get enough proof then."
"Hear yourself Armaan. She'll terrorize Nikita and we just watch?!"
He chuckled, "I'm watching over her, don't worry. While you were spoilt in your hate, I was watching over her."
"You... you knew where she was for the whole year?"
"No I didn't know that. But since I found out with you, I did watch over her to make sure she's fine."
"Oh."

I felt so bad, for not taking care of her, for not finding out what happened. How did I even accept that letter was hers? How caught up in my anger was I?

"Mayukh...."
I turned, "Yeah."
"What now?"
"Now...." I looked at my ring, which still adorned on my finger, "She's going to be mine."
