Mayukh POV:

We reached the office around 10am. I wore my simple brown shirt and black pants and followed my brother and Armaan as they were talking and entering the meeting room. We were introduced to everyone and soon Mr Gerard walked in.

"Good morning Mr Mayukh and Mr Ruyash." Mr Gerard said.
We smiled and reciprocated.
"Here we have the product launch and our project files are ready. Please have a seat while we get started on the meeting."
We sat down and soon the meeting commenced. I couldn't focus knowing that this is the office Nikita is in. I wanted a glimpse of her, despite my anger.

Once the meeting ended, everyone was sitting on the table having a chat when suddenly the door opened.

"Ah Sophia. Please come. Please ask someone to draw up the contract for our new clients."
She nodded, "Of course. Anything else? How was the meeting?"
"It was wonderful." Ruyash Bhai answered, "very professional. We'd love to work with you."
"Our pleasure."
"Sophia, the papers, please."
Sophia nodded, and she made her way out.

We followed them out as we were about to exit when I bumped into someone, I looked up and saw her. Her eyes widened seeing me and she instantly looked down. My eyes processed her entire look. Her formal pants and a white full sleeve shirt. She looked hot. Her hair was braided.

"Ah Nikita. You remember Mr Mayukh and Mr Ruyash, we met them at the party." Sophia said.
"Y..yes Ma'am."
Then she turned to us, "Hello Sir."
I saw Ruyash Bhai's hand fisting. Why was he angry? I couldn't answer so thankfully Mr Gerard answered.
"Not to overstep Mr Ruyash, but we'd love for Nikita to work with you guys, at any small level. She's been an excellent addition to her team and we'd be happy to show you her work to support it."
"No. There's no need for that." I heard Bhai say and then look at Nikita, "I'm sure she's excellent and we'd love to work with her, not just at a small level. She will be as involved in the project as the rest of us. It'll be a good exposure for her before she joins her job officially." Ruyash Bhai smiled at Nikita.
"Th..Thank you Sir." Nikita replied, looking down.

"Well, then, let's get started." Mr Gerard added, "Mr Ruyash, will you be leading the project on your end?"
Bhai nodded, "My brother is more aware of the Dubai market, so I'll be leading."
"Perfect. Would you like to discuss the books right now?"
"Sure, I don't mind. Let's go." Ruyash Bhai said.
"Mayukh..." Bhai turned to me, "you're free today. I'll catch you later, okay?"
I nodded.
"Nikita, you as well. You're free for now, we'll get you up to speed tonight okay. If you want, take the day off, just meet me on Zoom by around 8pm please." Sophia added.
Nikita nodded and smiled.

Soon everyone walked away, leaving just Nikita and I.

I walked over to her and I felt her stiffening and stepping back. She headed off to her work station and I didn't know what to do. I tried to call Armaan and he mentioned that he's busy with another client and he'll be free in another hour. After 10 minutes, I watched Nikita come out with her bag. She's leaving. I went outside and stood next to her. She hadn't seen me yet. What was she doing?

I checked her phone. An Uber? Why's she using an Uber? She can use my driver. I cleared my throat and she looked at me and her eyes widened and she instantly looked down. I saw her creating distance between us and I came closer and grabbed her wrist.

"Head intern. Damn." I scoffed.
She looked down.
"How did you manage this? How's your work great?" She still didn't answer.
"Nikita. I want an answer." My voice stiffened.
"S..sorry.. sorry Sir." She trembled.

I hated it when she called me Sir. Why is she calling me that? She should look me in the eye and talk?! Is it the guilt of writing that horrible letter now?

"Sir. That's not what I am to you." I said, bringing her closer.
"Sir my... my Uber is... here."
"You're not using an Uber."
"Why?"
"Because... why would I let you use an Uber?"
"Sorry Sir. I don't want to cause issues to you. Please let me go."
I scoffed, "Yeah you're a master in running away, aren't you? Why would you want to talk to a rich spoilt brat, right?" I looked at her, using her own words, dead in the eye.

But, she seemed confused and angry. She didn't seem shocked. If she wrote that, why isn't she realizing it? I saw her expression change from anger, to upset, to fear, to confusion. Her eyes brows were wrinkled, as if confused. Was Armaan right?

"Sorry Sir. I don't think either of those things. Please excuse me."
She said and left my hands and got in the Uber, leaving me wondering.

I had to see her again. What happened? Where was her fire? Why's she avoiding me like I don't want her around? Like she's some disease she's keeping me away from?

"Hey! Bro. Let's go." Armaan said as he reached. I waited in the office for 20 mins more until Armaan reached. I didn't realize the time because I was too lost in what she said. Why didn't she react? Was she confused?
"You might be right." I confessed, he looked at me.
"What?"
"You might be right, about the letter." I narrated the entire story.
Armaan was in shock, "See I told you. There's no way she said that. I refuse to believe it. Those words don't seem like hers. Let's figure it out."
"How can we?"
"Well, we have contacts."
"Our house doesn't have CCTV."
"We don't need it. I have a doubt on someone already. We just need the person." Armaan smirked.
"What are you on about?"
"You'll know. Give me a bit." Armaan said and dropped me to the hotel.
