Xiao Xiao went to the cafeteria with her lunch box, where the professors also got their food and sat down at the same table with her.
Several senior professors looked at Xiao Xiao with affection, even more so than they would their own granddaughters. Professor Xu picked up a chicken leg and offered it to Xiao Xiao, saying, "This chicken leg is too greasy. Xiao Xiao, you help me eat this one."
Seeing Professor Xu attempting to use a gentle strategy on Xiao Xiao, Professor Wang immediately became anxious, "Keep your portion, I am Xiao Xiao's teacher. Here, Xiao Xiao, this is for you. I don't like this."
Seeing both professors wanting to give her their chicken legs, Xiao Xiao was moved. She knew the menu at the cafeteria window well: two vegetarian dishes, stir-fried cabbage and shredded potatoes, with the only meat dish being one chicken leg per person.
Under such tough conditions, it was clear that the professors claiming they didn't like chicken legs were lying.
She smiled and said, "You should eat it yourselves. I'm only used to eating the dishes my husband makes." Saying this, she opened her lunch box.
The lunch box Wang Wei brought for Xiao Xiao had three layers: the first layer was braised prawns, the second was fried fish, and the third was green vegetables, with rice packed in another box, along with two bright red apples.
As soon as the lunch box was opened, the rich aroma captivated everyone at the table, making them all swallow their saliva.
Professor Xu turned his chicken leg around and then placed it back on his own plate, lamenting, "No wonder Xiao Xiao only likes the food cooked by your partner. It smells too good." Even he, an old man not driven by culinary desires, was almost drooling.
Xiao Xiao smiled. With so many people around, she couldn't share with everyone, so she quietly ate her meal.
Initially, the professors had wanted to give their good dishes to her, but in the end, they were the ones left craving painfully.
The meal quickly made Wang Wei's culinary skills and Xiao Xiao's intelligence well-known throughout the laboratory building.
However, everyone didn't have much time to gossip about this. After expressing their amazement, they quickly went back to their experiments.
Xiao Xiao stayed in the laboratory with the professors, solving several formulas in the afternoon. Although she only hinted subtly, since Xiao Xiao's arrival, the professors felt the experiments became easier. They could always quickly identify and smoothly solve problems.
Everyone was enthusiastic, thinking about working overtime, when a security guard came to report that Wang Wei had come to pick someone up.
Xiao Xiao looked up and realized it was already six o'clock.
She smiled at the professors and said, "Dear professors, I'll be leaving now. Don't work too late."
"Xiao Xiao, why don't you stay a bit longer..." One problem after another was smoothly solved, and everyone in the laboratory felt an unprecedented ease. They really wanted to take advantage of the momentum and work hard, but Xiao Xiao had to leave.
However, Professor Xu was unable to convince her to stay. Xiao Xiao said, "My husband will worry if I'm late." With that, she left the laboratory.
"Ah," Professor Xu sighed, a true lover of talent. He couldn't bear to force Xiao Xiao to stay. After all, she was so young, and it was their responsibility to bear these burdens.
"What's with Xiao Xiao's family? Saying it's six o'clock and then it's precisely six o'clock, how can they be so punctual?" Professor Xu said somewhat gloomily to Professor Wang. If it had been a bit later, perhaps they could have solved another formula.
