"I've made you some waffles with some fruit. Your dad said you like waffles," Esme said warmly, placing a plate in front of Rainn. Rainn had been woken up bright and early by Esme, his grandmother. Honestly, this would have been earlier than Rainn would have woken up, especially after his late night. However, Esme was determined to have Rainn eat breakfast at a reasonable time. Rainn is not the type of person to question people's actions, as being raised to listen to his mother."Thank you," Rainn responded politely, eyeing the sugary breakfast with anticipation. It was obvious to him that his grandmother had put quite a bit of time and effort into this food. The smell of the food made his stomach rumble, causing a smile to grow on Esmes's face.
"I think your father is planning on taking you out into the woods with your aunt and uncle today whilst I spend some time with your mother," Esme explained as she turned to start washing up the dirty utensils.
"Okay, where are they?" Rainn asked, having not seen either of his parents yet. Esme brought him out of his room, which was rather different from the usual. Rainn expected his mother to be overprotective, similar to how she was last night."Your auntie is with your mother, and your father is hunting with your uncles. He should be back soon." Rainn smiled slightly, knowing his father was happy to be back with his brothers.
"So you weren't able to get Mum out?"Rainn assumed, remembering what his grandmother had told him about yesterday. His speech was slightly out of order but still comprehensible for the vampiric woman.
"Not last night, no. I'm hoping tonight she will." Esme explained, looking over her shoulder at Rainn."Mmmm, me too," Rainn agreed, taking his first bite of the waffle before him. A smile took over his face as the flavours hit.
"She'll go eventually. She'll have to," Esme said, touching Rainn's head lightly. Rainn took a second bite, smiling as the tartness of the strawberry reached his taste buds."Yeah," Rainn agreed, smiling softly and enjoying his breakfast. Speaking of his parents, it was only seconds later that one decided to make an appearance.
"Morning, buddy," Emmet's cheerful voice called out as he entered the kitchen. He quickly made his way over to Rainn, ruffling Rainn's blond hair. Trailing behind him were his uncles and grandfather."Hi, Dad," Rainn responded with a grin after swallowing his mouthful of waffles. Emmet only responded with a grin, putting a slightly firmer pressure on Rainn's head, Rainn's grin widening.
"Good morning, Rainn. How did you sleep?" Carlisle asked, following Emmet towards Rainn. Rainn folds slightly, not being too aware of his grandfather after only having limited interaction with the man.
"I slept good," Rainn said simply, not really knowing what else to say. His nerves came back slightly, and his tone instantly changed compared to how he spoke to his father.
"Were you warm enough? We weren't sure how warm you normally like it," Carlisle continued. Carlisle instantly observed Rainn's actions and knew his slight apprehension about conversing with him, so to encourage Rainn, he knew that he had to keep the conversation going.
"Yeah, I was warm enough," Rainn admitted, realising that the heating wouldn't have been on if he wasn't there. Emmet placed his overlarge hand on Rainn's shoulder in reassurance."You're going to be with us today. We found an old badminton net that we can set up," Emmet said, his enthusiasm evident.
Rainn's eyes lit up at the idea of spending the day outdoors. "Badminton?" he exclaimed.
"It'll be a great way to stretch your legs properly after the long drive," Emmet said, ruffling Rainn's hair, becoming extremely impatient with how long Rainn's taking to eat.As Rainn finished his breakfast, the kitchen buzzed with a sense of normalcy and warmth that eased some of his earlier anxieties. He glanced out the window at the unfamiliar landscape, excitement and nervousness swirling inside him.
