CHAPTER ONE
act one . infant and innocent

ALAENA VELARYON, had a sword in one arm swinging it at ser Harwin, as they practiced, "Keep your head high princess," Ser Harwin's voice snapped Alaena out of her thoughts and back onto training.

Alaena was ten and two, and was heir to the iron throne, the princess Rhaenyra herself named her daughter heir the day she was born. Alaena has two younger brothers, Jacaerys and Lucerys. Jacaerys is heir to Driftmark. Alaena loved her brothers, she loved having brothers.

        "Princess Alaena!" She was snapped out of thought again but not by Ser Harwin but by one of Rhaenyra's head maids, "The princess Rhaenyra requested your presences," Alaena knew that her mother was to have her babe soon, "Is the babe coming?" Alaena dropped her sword and ran towards the head maid, "Yes, and the princess needs you by her side."

       Princess Alaena give Ser Harwin an apologized look, before running up the red keep's staircases with the head maid by her side. Leaving Ser Harwin to find Jace and Luke.

As the princess ran down the hallways, she could hear her mother, "Princess it's time to start pushing!"

     The doors opened and Alaena ran in, "I'm here!" Rhaenyra let out a sigh in relief, "Princess you need to start pushing!" One of the midwives tells Rhaenyra.

Alaena ran over to her mother and grabbed her hand for her to hold, "Push!"

Rhaenyra started to push the baby out of her, "The head!" Another midwife yells, and with one last hard push Alaena had a new brother.

"A boy princess!" Rhaenyra's midwife spoke, "A boy!" Alaena shouted, "Praise the Mother!"

Rhaenyra and Alaena's ears rang with the sound of the new baby's cries, "Mother! It's a boy!" Alaena smiles looking at her new baby brother.

The midwife give Rhaenyra her baby, "Healthy?" Rhaenyra asked, "Kicking like a goat, Princess."

The baby's cries were heard from outside the room, one of the queens maids walked in, "Princess...the Queen has requested that the child be brought to her... immediately," The whole room changed, Rhaenyra changed her mood.

"Why?" Rhaenyra asked, she knew why, Queen Alicent has always done this, every time Rhaenyra has birthed a child Alicent wish to see them, first it started with Alaena, then Jacaerys, then Lucerys and now the new baby.

Rhaenyra looked at Alaena, and Alaena looked confused, Rhaenyra got up, still holding her babe, "I'll take him myself," Rhaenyra struggled, "You should remain abed, Princess," The midwife suggested, "Yes, I should!" Rhaenyra snaps, "Help me dress."

         Alaena looked around, "Mother let me help you," Rhaenyra shook her head, as one of the midwives takes her babe, as Rhaenyra gets help dresssing she watches her baby and her daughter.

        Just as Rhaenyra's dress was almost on, the after birth was coming, Alaena didn't know what was happening to her mother, all she heard was her mother in pain.

        "The after birth!" One of the midwives speaks informing the other midwives.

         The chamber doors open and Laenor walks in with a smile, "A boy. I've just heard," Rhaenyra was tired from her labours and Alaena just followed behind her mother.
