CHAPTER TWENTY FIVE
act three . the mad queen

── ୨୧ ──

ALAENA had been called upon, by Alicent. The queen walked with purpose, as she was met by the door of the Dowager queens door.

Which opened, and Alicent was by the fire as she held a cloth to her stomach, she turned when she saw the queen.

"Alaena," Alaena had her arms crossed, as she stood there, "You called upon my presence, speak you mind."

Alicent nodded as she took a seat, out of breath, "You know I won't call your presence if it wasn't necessary, Alaena."

Alaena nodded and Alicent motion for her to sit, which Alaena did, as she took a seat in front of her, "You mustn't tell a soul Alaena, not Aegon, nor Aemond, no one."

Alaena laughed, "If you don't speak-"

"I saw Rhaenyra."

Alaena leaned forward, "What?"

Alicent sighed, "Your mother was in Kings Landing," Alaena shook her head, "I don't believe you."

Alicent leaned forwards, "Alaena believe it to be true, I only speak truth. Now I tell you this because she wished for me to give you something," Alicent slowly stood up, as she walked to her desk, grabbing the parchment and handing it to her.

Alaena looked at the seal, knowing her mothers seal. She opened it right away, as she read the words.

DEAREST ALAENA.

Or should I call you, your grace?
Your mother misses you dearly, more then you can think, if i knew our last moments would have been at the family dinner, it would have been better. I would have said a lot more then what I did. But under the circumstances I didn't see you again, I dream of you every night since then only because I knew I should have taken you with me to Dragonstone, or maybe I should've denied my father when he suggested wedding you to Aemond and Aegon. I wished to go back, and change everything I ever did to you, I would have been a better mother to you. I don't know if i'll ever give this to you, most likely not. But I should say some things i've wished you knew. I'm writing this after Lucerys' death. One death I know hit you hard as it did for everyone, Jacaerys, me, Baela, Rhaena. I don't blame you, I don't hate you. You are my heir, and if I rather have anyone on the throne not for myself it would be you. You know what I have to do, you know it, maybe you didn't know until now, or maybe you did know, but with Lucerys' death, being at the fault of the Hightowers, they have to pay. But I don't blame you child, or believe you to be a traitor. You are my daughter, and you are a queen.

Love, your mother. Queen Rhaenyra.

Alaena stared at the letter, eyes filled with tears, Alaena quickly wiped away the tear that fell, and she rolled the letter up, as she stood up. Turning to Alicent, "What else did she say when she was here?"

Alicent took a deep breath, "I was wrong, I made a mistake-"

Alaena titled her head, "I thought my husband wished for Aegon to be king.. I was wrong."

Alaena eyes widen a bit, almost like she didn't believe Alicent would say such a thing, "My husband told a story about Aegon the Conqueror..."
