CHAPTER NINETEEN
act two . the prophecies── ୨୧ ──
ON the morrow, Alaena rolled over on the bed.
Seeing Elaena placing a blue dress on the side, "Good morrow princess, the queen wishes for you to wear this dress," Alaena nodded, as she looked around the room not seeing Aegon, "Where is my husband?"
"Getting prepared," Alaena nodded, getting up. Elaena helped her bathe, before getting ready, Elaena helped with her hair, which she only brushed and kept it down.
Once finished Alaena looked down at herself, and Elaena placed a hand on her shoulder, "Princess... the queen is waiting for you in the carriage."
Alaena made her way down the halls of kings landing, and for once in her life time Alaena didn't see anyone in the halls, no lords no ladies.
Until she reached the carriage, which sat Alicent and Aegon.
Alicent kept her head down, when Alaena climbed in, and Aegon wasn't looking at her. But without hesitation the carriage set off, to the dragon pit.
While riding through the streets, Alicent looked over at Aegon, "Have the decency to look grateful," Alaena glanced over at Alicent whom didn't met her eye, "Do you know what has been done to give you this day? In an hour, you will be king-" Alicent then met Alaena's eye, "And you queen."
Alaena sighed looking at Aegon whim kept his head turned, "And my father never wanted this," Aegon turned to Alicent, "That's not true," She shook her head, and Alaena frowned, "He had years to name me heir and never did. Steadfastly, he upheld Rhaenyra's claim, and Rhaenyra held up Alaena's."
Alaena eye flickered from Aegon to Alicent, "He changed his mind," Alaena heard the truth, "He did?" Alaena asked and Alicent turned her head, "It was my husbands dying wish."
"Dying wish?" Alaena questioned, leaning forwards, "Yes, dying wish, as he laid on the bed he wished for Aegon to be crowned king."
Alaena looked at Aegon whom met her eye, "No... He could have, but he never did because he didn't like me."
"And yet, with his final breath, he whispered to me that you should take his place on the throne."
Aegon laughed, before Alicent opened a box, which held Viserys' daggers. Blackfyre.
"Do not toy with me, Mother."
Alicent leaned forward as Alaena watched, "I speak the truth," Aegon picked up the conqueror's dagger, as Alicent started to speak, "Listen to me, Aegon. Your grandfather, the Hand, will try to impress on you that Rhaenyra should be put to the sword-" But Alaena spoke up, "She won't, Aegon will not rule with cruelty or callousness, since Rhaenyra is his sister and my mother-" Aegon cut them off, "Do you love me?"
Alaena looked at Aegon whom met her eye, the question was to Alaena, and she give him a look, "You imbecile," Alicent spoke up, as Aegon held tears in his eyes, but Alaena didn't say a word.
