CHAPTER NINE
act one . infant and innocent

    AEMOND HAD PUT ALL HIS TIME IN HISTORY AND PHILOSOPHY, he was angry, not only did he lose his eye, he lost Alaena to his brother.

     Alaena tried to speak to him, telling him that Aegon and herself didn't have a part in changing the betrothal but he didn't listen.

      It had been one moon since being at driftmark, the king had been getting worse, but he has good days and bad days.

      The day was Helaena's name day, her 12th named day. The queen Alicent and king were throwing a feast, and before Alaena were to get ready for the feast, she was getting Helaena a gift, a necklace. One that Alaena hoped she would like.

"The necklace, princess."

Alaena looked at the necklace, it was beautiful.

Once Alaena got the necklace, she went to her chambers, to get ready, Elaena helped her bathe, and dress and putting her silver long hair in a braid.

Alaena stood in front of Elaena, her hand maid. In a blue dress, showing her youth.

"Perhaps, the prince Aemond will forgive you when he looks at you in this dress," Elaena jested, which caused Alaena to smile, "I wish."

It was nearly night fall, and Alaena was ready, she grabbed the box that had the necklace for Helaena, and the princess was walking into Alicent's apartments, it was empty, which meant Alicent was in the throne room, with the king.

"Helaena..." Alaena called placing the box down on a side table, then shy young girl stepped out of her chamber, "Alaena!" She had a smile on her face, she wear a blue dress just as Alaena, her hair had a braid in the back. She looked beautiful.

"Happy name day, Helaena!" Alaena smiled, and Helaena smiled, "Oh my Alaena."

"We shall head out? We don't want a search party, for us," Alaena jested which Helaena nodded, Alaena knew that Helaena didn't like crowds, more precisely the lords and ladies she didn't know, that would all wish her well but never knew what happened within these walls.

Alaena offered her arms to the princess Helaena to take which she did, "Oh! Before we go!" Alaena stopped and went over to the side table to grab the box, "What is it?" She asked looking at the box, "Something for your name day!"

She handed the box to Helaena to open, and once she did Helaena eyes lit up, "Alaena, you shouldn't have," She looked at the necklace that had three birds on it, "I had it made for you."

"Let's put it on," Alaena offered, and took the necklace out of the box and around Helaena's neck.

"Someday we can fly away from here, just as the birds do."

THE TWO PRINCESS ARRIVED, and Alicent looked relieved, when she saw Alaena and Helaena together. The first thing Alaena did when she stepped in the throne room was look for Aemond. It was hard to see since lords and ladies were dancing together, with the music. Men drank heavily wine, and while the ladies talked amongst themselves.
