After all the commotion that had happened earlier on in the evening, the manor fell silent. Any person would've thought it was abandoned with the way no one showed any signs of life.

Shuxin was in her room, reading some of the books she had taken from the Wayne's library collection. Alfred was in the kitchen, sorting out through herbs and spices for herbal remedies. Batman, had just gone out on patrol for the night and Damian was once again, nowhere to be seen.

Eventually, Shuxin gathered the courage to exit her room and make her way for the cave she was first "welcomed" in. They say "curiosity kills that cat" but in Shuxin's case, nothing surprised her anymore.

As she made her way down the stairs, she ran into Alfred who was actually taking her, her supper.

"Oh, Thank you Mr... Alfred?" Shuxin cringed as she said that. These past few days, she had subconsciously dropped the majority of the formalities she was used to. Although one could say this was beneficial for development, for Shuxin it felt like each time, she was further from everything she ever knew.

"No worries, Miss Shu-sheen." said Alfred.

He continued.

"Every meal of the day is important, especially when you're not feeling well." suddenly, he paused for a moment.

"Miss, Shu. Xin. I understand it is not my place to be telling you this, but I'll tell you something I should've told someone long ago."

"Sometime's it's better to give people a chance. In fact, they might even surprise you!" professed Alfred.

Shuxin felt comforted by Alfred's kinds words. But it was just too difficult of a transition. Before all of "this" happened, she was living a life similar to that of all her school peers.

How many people did she know that would say their mother's and brother's were crazy ninja killers and father's beat people up as hobby? Not just that, but who was she gonna burden with all her unresolved feelings about...everything? That's what Auntie Zhao was for, and now they took her away from her too. It was all too much for Shuxin.

Nonetheless, she let out a small grin and followed Alfred back into the kitchen. There, she began to help him sort out his herbal remedies and even got to create some of her own recipes that she remembered from a book she had read a while ago.

As she ate her supper and organized the herbal remedies, Alfred and Shuxin talked about many things, laughed about many things, and even felt sad about a couple of other things. Too many things! But for the first time in a while, Shuxin didn't feel overwhelmed or depressed. She was glad that she was at least starting to form somewhat of a bond with Alfred.

In the end, he was right. People did surprise you. Coming here, Shuxin would've never imagined she would find someone that understood her as well as they did back home. For now, it was a lesson well learned.
