I don't want backup. I turn to Travis.
"We can do this ourselves."
"No. we get backup. If we don't we will get killed. Travis says forceful.
"Then you go back and call. I'm getting the amulet back." I say with determination. Travis looks like he is about to blow up.
"Why are you so stupid?! You don't need to do everything yourself! You got this far! Way to go! Now let's live to see another day and get the amulet." Travis yells as loud as he can without the armed men hearing.
"I never even wanted you here! So you go back and be a coward, I'm doing this!" I yell a bit too loudly. Thankfully both of us were hidden well or we would be dead. The armed men started shooting at us, but they weren't too sure on where we were. Bullets flying everywhere. Some getting close others not so much. I pull out the little hand gun from my ankle holster.
"Where did you get that?" Travis says through gritted teeth.
"Your backpack." I respond.
"Excuse me??" Travis says sounding if he didn't hear me correctly.
I did in fact get the gun from Travis's backpack even though he didn't pack it. I snuck it in there when I took from the hanger. I hid it there because I hadn't put on the holster yet. When he checked the auto pilot I got both things back and put them on.
I roll my eyes at him the peak over the rock. I don't aim the first time I shoot at them. It was a warning shot and are my hands in the right place to use this shot. When I fire my hands barely move from the shot, which tells me I'm just that good. After shooting I hear a big thing fall to the ground and yelling. I look over to Travis. He looks shocked. Guess I hit a guy.
"Fine you win." I say then fire again. The yelling continues but I don't think I hit someone. "In my fanny bag there is a walkie." I finish.
"You packed a walkie?" Travis asks confused.
"How else was I supposed to tell HQ I got the amulet back?" I answer.
He give me a look telling me he understands then reaches for my fanny pack. I look up more and aim for one of the guns. I fire and hit it perfectly. The gun blows up hitting the man holding it and a couple others around him.
"The latch is on the other side." I say when Travis hands can't find the latch. He leans forward more and alters his position to try to get a hold of it. I fire again hitting someone in the eye. That's gonna haunt me. Travis finally gets the fanny pack off me.
"Got it!" he says. He puts in on the ground and leans it on my leg. He barely moves his position. I understand why, one wrong move and you get a death hole somewhere. I aim for the closest guy then the furthest. I hit both with ease. I guess they recruited me because of my marksmanship, it's really the only thing I'm good at.
Travis turns on the walkie but takes a while getting it to connect with HQ.
"Hello??" Travis asks his fear hinting at its existence.
"What is your name and agent number? And state your mission and purpose of this call." the woman on the other side of the walkie says. Travis panics and turns the volume down to where I have a little trouble hearing.
I fire at the armed mean again hitting two more but missing one. My pistol is starting to feel worryingly light.
"Travis GZ5468TW and Mira GZ3427MP, rogue mission to get back the amulet at the temple of origin. We are in need of backup. We are pinned with heavy artillery." Travis says with as much confidence he can muster.
"Understood. Please wait for response." the woman answers.
"Wait?!? We going to die!" Travis mutters. I aim for a guy then notice another with his gun pointed right at me. I drop to the ground pushing Travis down with me even though he is pretty much already laying on the ground. Travis curses under his breath after the bullet hits the tree behind us. I sit hunched again and start rapid fire. The Raiders act how I wanted, running for cover. Unfortunately I run out of bullets mid rapid fire. Now I'm not one to curse but I will be honest. I cursed I'm out of bullets and they are starting to take notice. Travis notices what happened and gets on the walkie.
"We are cornered and out of ammo." Travis says into the walkie but who knows if the woman was listen or evens cares.
"Backup is about four minute's away." the woman answers.
"Good news I guess." I say to Travis. Travis looks up at me I see fear. Fear I didn't know he could have.
"I-" Travis starts. But bullets interrupt him, now my fear is reality. They know I'm out, and I can't do anything.
"Please tell me you have some weapon!" I say when I bend over and lean on top of him. Our faces are too close. That doesn't matter death is upon us!
"Travis grabs his mini backpack and pulls out a flare gun.
"Will this help in anyway? Travis asks.
"Maybe." I answer. Travis hands me the flare gun. I turn towards the rock and hold my arm up towards the sky. I shoot and they shoot back hitting me in the arm. I drop the flare gun and my arm. I react to the pain but not loudly. I can't be loud, I would yell right in Travis's ear and give the Raiders the knowledge I am really injured.
On the other hand my flare gun distraction worked. The men stopped shooting and I hear thing hit the ground. I just wish the shooting stopped longer. But I don't hear bullets hit trees, I hear things heavy things hit the ground.
Someone taps me on the shoulder, I don't know who since I squeezed my eyes closed when I was shot.
"It's all clear now agents" A male voice yells. I open my eyes to see a tall black agent standing over us. I slowly get up wincing at my arm. When I manage to sit up Travis is already standing.
"Need a hand?" Travis asks holding out his hand.
"Fine." I respond holding out my good hand. When I'm standing I check my arm. My arm is covered in blood and dripping down my fingers. I look up to my sleeve ripped and soaked in blood. But my arm does hurt like it should. It feels like I got hit with a baseball bat or something.
"Meds are by the truck. Over there." The agent says and points to the small road where we came from. I nod. Travis takes my good arm and starts to lead me to the truck. On the way there I look towards the temple. I just see a much of people on the ground. In the corner of my eye I see the leader holding the amulet hiding behind one of the inner walls of the temple.
In a spilt second I decide to run after him. I break from Travis and run I pass an agent and grab his gun. I pass the gun to my good hand and shoot. I hit him in the left and he falls. I grab the amulet and hold the gun on him. Travis and other agents run up to me. Agents grab the leader and the agent who owns the gun takes it from me and gives me a look.
"Can you get medical attention now?" Travis asks.
"Alright fine." I respond with a smile.
"Good job. You did it." Travis says smiling. I guess I did. The Amulet of Bomani the Egyptian warrior Queen has been returned because of me. Well I guess Travis helped a bit.
