The Amulet of Bomani

Chapter 11

"I-" I start but I hear a door fly open. Shouting and yelling fills the room. Both Travis and I freeze. I peak through the stuff behind me. I try to look for the armed people but I can only hear them.

"Do you see and exit or something that could be an exit?" I ask him. Travis starts looking around. He gets up and sneaks around looking.

"There is no exit unless we can get up to those windows." Travis says pointing to the windows maybe twenty feet high.

"Great." I comment. "Our pistols won't be enough to get out of here." I say to him. "Do you have any ideas on how to get out of here then?" I ask

"No." Travis says now sitting next to me. "Here." he hands me the amulet. "Put it in your fanny pack." he adds. I nod and do so.

I then hold my pistol ready for them just in case. I peak over again and immediately regret it. I make eye contact with a bulky bearded armed man. I drop down. Travis notices and speaks up.

"What?" Travis says tensing up. Before I can answer a man yells.

"Over there!!"

"I think you know." I say my voice sounding strained. I look around frantically then I see it. A cannon. Perfect, well not completely perfect. To get to the cannon we have to cross the main aisle. The aisle where armed men are on one side of it.

"Cannon." I say.

"Um you do realize we would be shot trying to get to it, right?!" Travis says probably hoping he heard me wrong.

I point to the crate by us.

"Please be kidding." Travis pleads.

"Nope!" I say excitedly. Travis groans. We shove to crate in the middle of the aisle. When we do the shooting stops for a minute during that minute we use the crate as a shield and Travis gets to the other side. Unfortunately the shooting starts again before I get to the other side. I sit peak over and start rapid fire. The armed forces run to the side. When I gain an opening I dash to the side.

"Is the cannon ready to be used?" I ask Travis.

"Why couldn't you have been kidding? And yes. Good luck." Travis responds.

"Do you have something that produces fire?" I ask.

"I question you. Now more than ever. Also yes." he says and hands me a lighter. I put the lighter in my pocket and start to move the cannon I find an opening where stuff isn't on the shelf and place the cannon there. I then light it. I sit holding one side of the cannon. Travis notices what I'm doing and does the same on the other side. The throwback of the cannon firing kinda hurt. I peak around the side to see the damage. Two shelves are rocking stuff flying off it and one shelf is leaning on the wall. Travis helps me put another cannon ball in and we aim for the other side. On our side three shelves rock then fall. Thankfully the collateral damage didn't make it to us. We shoot the cannon a couple more times in till we can get up and out ourselves.
