As I answered the phone and saw Maya's name flash on the screen.

"Hey, what's up?" I said, trying to sound casual.

"Julie, I've got some great news! I'll be at your house in ten minutes to tell you. Also, we're going to the mall to look for our homecoming dresses!" Maya's voice was bubbling with excitement.

"Oooh, intriguing! Can't wait to hear it. See you soon!" I replied, feeling my curiosity piqued.

Eagerly, I rummaged through my closet, thinking about what to wear. As I rummaged through my closet, I decided on something casual. I pulled out my favorite pair of blue ripped jeans, pairing them with a soft gray shirt. After a moment's contemplation, I decided to style my hair in a curly bun. I grabbed my white purse and slipped on my gray Jordan shoes, ready to go to the mall.

I glanced at myself in the mirror, making sure I looked good before I headed outside I said bye to my parents just as Maya pulled up to my driveway. Stepping outside, I saw Maya pull up in a sleek white Audi, her face beaming with excitement. My jaw dropped in disbelief as I took in the sight of her new car.

"Maya, is this...?" I stammered, barely able to contain my astonishment.

"Yes! My parents got me a car!" Maya grinned, stepping out to give me a better look.

"Oh my gosh, Maya! It's gorgeous!" I exclaimed, running my hand over the shiny surface. "I love it. I remember you telling me this was your dream car.!"

"I know right I am still shocked! Hop in!" she said, opening the passenger door for me.

I slid into the car, marveling at the pristine interior. "This is so cool! You totally deserve it."

"Thanks, Julie. I'm so excited! Now, let's hit the mall and find the perfect dresses," Maya said, starting the engine.

As Maya maneuvered the sleek white Audi through traffic, the excitement in the air was palpable. The hum of the engine seemed to underscore our conversation.

Maya turned to me, a sparkle in her eyes. "So, Julie, remember how I've been working my butt off to keep up with my grades and ace my exams?"

I nodded, a smile spreading across my face. "Of course, Maya. You've been putting in so much effort."

"Well, it paid off big time. My parents surprised me with this car as a reward for all my hard work!" Maya exclaimed, gesturing to the luxurious interior of the Audi.

"No way! That's incredible!" I exclaimed, barely able to contain my excitement. "I can't believe they did that!"

Maya grinned, her eyes shining with happiness. "I know, right? It was the best surprise ever."

I couldn't help but feel a surge of happiness for my friend as I listened to her recount the story.

The drive to the mall was filled with laughter and chatter as we discussed our homecoming plans and what kind of dresses we were hoping to find.

Arriving at the mall, we wasted no time diving into our shopping spree. The boutique we entered was filled with an array of stunning dresses, each more beautiful than the last. The theme for the homecoming dance was Hollywood, and we were determined to find the perfect dress.

"How about this one?" I asked, holding up a shimmering gold gown.

"It's beautiful! Try it on!" Maya encouraged.

I headed to the fitting room, excitement bubbling inside me as I slipped into the dress. Stepping out, I couldn't help but feel a rush of confidence as I twirled in front of the mirror.

"You look gorgeous I love the gold on you!" Maya exclaimed.

"Definitely a contender. I found one I want to try too," she added, holding up her black dress.

We spent the next hour trying on various dresses, finally deciding on our favorites. I chose the gold gown, and Maya settled on the black sequined dress that made her look like she belonged on the red carpet.

Next, we headed to the shoe store in search of the perfect heels to complete our looks. I found a pair of elegant gold stilettos, while Maya opted for classic black heels with a touch of sparkle.

With our dresses and shoes sorted, we decided to treat ourselves to a visit to the nail salon. We selected colors to match our outfits, opting for a combination of classic and trendy designs.

As we left the salon, our hands and feet pampered and perfect, we couldn't stop smiling. The day had been a whirlwind of excitement and joy, and I knew we'd remember it forever.

We walked back to the Jeep, our arms laden with shopping bags, ready for homecoming.

Our stomachs began to growl, reminding us that we hadn't eaten since breakfast.

"Hey, how about we grab some food before we head home?" Maya suggested.

"Sounds like a plan! I'm starving," I agreed.

With our dresses and shoes sorted, we decided to call it a day. We got everything that we needed. We settled on a nearby restaurant known for its mouthwatering ribs, the savory aroma drawing us in from the moment we stepped inside.

"I'm definitely going for the ribs," I declared, unable to resist the temptation.

"Good choice! I think I'll get the same thing," Maya said, smiling.

After placing our orders, we settled back in our seats, eagerly anticipating the arrival of our delicious meal.

"This has been such a fun day, Maya. Thanks for inviting me," I said, genuinely grateful for her friendship.

"Anytime, Julie. I'm so glad we got to spend this time together," Maya replied, her eyes reflecting the warmth of our friendship.

Our ribs arrived, perfectly cooked and smothered in tangy sauce. We dug in, savoring each bite as we continued to chat and laugh, already making plans for the next time we go out.

After finishing our meal and paying the bill, we headed back to the car, our stomachs full. As we drove home, the memories of our day together danced through my mind, filling me with a sense of contentment and joy. Today had been fun and I couldn't wait for more days like this with the whole friend group during the summertime.

Question of the day: Beaches or Pools?

For me I would say pools I feel more safer knowing I can reach the bottom and nothing else is in the water.
