*Alexia's POV

It has been 14 years since Spot and I got married. We are still madly in love and have a beautiful daughter, Nikki and a baby boy on the way.

After the wedding, we got many gifts, including enough money to buy a place of our own. Spot and I bought a large flat on the 3rd floor of the building in Brooklyn. We've lived there ever since.

Nikki's 14th birthday is coming up in a few weeks, and Spot and I want want it to be special for her.

*Spot's POV

"Mornin' sweet cheeks." I told my wife. She's so beautiful, so is my beautiful daughter. She's growing up so fast , she'll be 14 in a few weeks.

I leaned down and kissed Lexi's stomach, where my baby boy is growin'.

"Hiya, son." I smiled, so did Lexi.

All of the sudden, Nikki hopped down the stairs.
"Mornin'!" She smiled.

"Mornin'." We both said in unison.

"What's got ya so cheerful?" Alexia asked. Nikki was never this happy in the mornin', she hated gettin' up early to sell papes. Lately, she's been really happy.

"Nothin'." She quickly drank a cup of water and kissed us goodbye.

"Don't wait up! I might be late." She said.

"Not so fast. Where are ya goin'?" I asked her.

"I'm gonna sell papes, then play some poker with the newsies." She said quickly.

"Okay, have fun." I smirked.

Playin' poker? That's my girl. I thought.

*Nikki's POV

I made my way to the Brooklyn circulation center, and saw my closest friends, Cricket and Ace, talkin' to some of the other boys.
"Hiya, Cricket! Hey Ace." I smiled.

"Hey, Princess." He smiled.

"Hey." Cricket replied.

Considering that I'm the daughter of Spot and Alexia Conlon, everybody's nickname for me is Princess.

We made our way down the street after buyin' our papes. Ace and I always sell together, people think we are a good match for partners. I think so too.

Honestly, I love working with Ace. He's fun, smart, hilarious, cute, and really good with a slingshot. Ever since I started hangin' out with Ace, I've had feelings for 'em. They get stronger, too. I would tell him how I feel, but I don't know if he feels the same way. I mean, what if he rejects me?

"Nikki? Hello? Nikki?" Ace is shaking me.

"What?" I look into his hazel eyes.

"I've been tryin' to get your attention for the past 5 minutes. Are ya okay?" He asks.

"Uh... yeah."

Other than the fact that I've been daydreaming about you.

We continue to walk quietly.

I decide to break the silence, "So, are ya comin' to play poker tonight?" I ask Ace.

"Uh... sure." He scratches the back of his head, nervously.

"Great!" I say, maybe a little more enthusiastically than I should've.
I began to blush.

He looked at me and smiled,"You're cute when ya blush."

I smiled and blushed even more.
"Uh... thanks. Maybe I'll do it more often."

Before I knew it, we were at my door.

"Well, I'll see ya tonight at Butchy's?" I asked.

''Yeah. Bye!" He waved.

I made my way through the apartment and to my bedroom. I wanted to look special tonight.
