Chapter 7

Not long after Ace left, I ran home with tears in my eyes.

"Nikki? What's the matter?" Momma asked.

"Ace has a girlfriend and they won't break up and he tried to kiss me but I stopped him because I didn't want to be a scabber!'' I took a deep breath making me cry harder. "He got mad and left."

"Oh, baby." She said, rubbing my back. "Ya did the right thing. He's the scabber."

Just then, Papa got home from work.

*Alexia's POV

I hated seein' Nikki like this, but if Spot knew, he would soak Ace for sure.

I grabbed Nikki's hand and went into her bedroom, closing the door behind me.

"Come on." I motioned for her to lay down.

"Don't tell papa. Please." She whispered.

"I won't." I smiled.

Finally, I got Nikki to sleep. I covered her up and went back to the living room.

"Hey sweet cheeks." Spot gave me a peck on the lips.

"Hi." I leaned my head on his shoulder. "How was work?"

"Eh, fine. The usual." He said.

"Good." I smiled.

"What's the matter with Nikki?" He looked into my eyes.

"Uh, nothin'." I looked away, knowin' that I couldn't lie to his face.

"Lex..." He put his hand on my hips and glared at me with those icy blue eyes.

"What?" I said innocently.

"The truth please." He smirked.

"I can't tell ya." I kissed him again, tryin' to get him to drop it.

"Tsk, tsk. Lex..." He looked into my eyes again.

"Boy troubles. No big deal." I sat down.

"Is it that boy? ....Ace?" He grunted.

"Yeah." He stood up, but I grabbed his arm and pulled him down.

"No." I stated.

"I'm just goin' to talk to 'em. Come on Lex-"

"No." I said again.

"Alright." He sighed.

*Spot's POV

I wanted to soak 'em right then and there, but lucky for him, I couldn't.

I hope he feels guilty for whatever he did. What a scab! Especially with my baby girl's birthday comin' up!

Later that night, Lexi and I went to bed. I checked on Nikki and kissed her on the forehead. Shortly after, Alexia and I were lyin' in bed. I kissed Alexia and then her stomach.

"He's kickin'!" She squealed and grabbed my hand. I felt my son kick for the first time. It was amazin'.

Shortly after, I kissed Lexi goodnight and went to sleep.

*Nikki's POV

I woke up with a hole in my heart.

"Ace..." I whispered.

I decided to go for a short walk to think. I slipped on my jacket and cap, along with a pocket knife just in case.

I quietly went out the window and down the fire escape. I walked towards the Brooklyn Lodging House when I saw a carriage with Red in the back. I snuck up behind the carriage to get a closer look.

All of the sudden, I saw a figure with jet black hair and dreamy eyes. It was hard to see, but I could tell it was Ace. Was he serious about leavin'?
