Mithali's family was staying in the Singhania mansion. Kritika and Mithali were behaving like long-lost friends, and everyone was delighted by their bond.

Aditya's and Kritika's relationship had blossomed. They were happy with how things were progressing. Kritika had started sleeping on the bed at Aditya's insistence. They had forgotten about the agreement and everything else.

Despite this, Aditya was still reluctant because he always felt that giving their relationship a chance was like betraying Samaira. Kritika was aware of his feelings but wanted their relationship to progress, so she tried every possible way.

But happiness doesn't last forever, does it?

**Kritika's POV**

I kept calling Aditya, but his phone was switched off. Glancing out the window, I saw rain pouring down, accompanied by lightning.

Oh god, where is he?

He's really sensitive to water. If he gets wet, he'll have a fever tomorrow for sure.I ran quickly to Abhi bhai's room and knocked twice. Bhai opened the door, rubbing his sleepy eyes.

"What happened, Kritika?" he asked.

"Bhai, Aditya hasn't come home yet. He's not answering my calls," I said, my voice tinged with worry.

"Kritika, maybe he's stuck with some work. You should go to sleep," Bhai suggested.

"But Bhai, it's raining outside. It's very risky," I tried to explain.

"In that case, he might be staying at his penthouse or the office. Don't worry; he's mature enough to handle things," he said, yawning. "Kritika, I'm very sleepy. Goodnight," he said and closed the door.

I went back to my room, sat on the bed, and held his photo frame in my hands.

"Where are you, Adi? Please come back. I'm scared," I murmured.

Then I thought about calling his P.A.

I dialed Aman's number, and it started ringing.

"Hello," I heard his groggy voice.

"Hello, Aman. This is Kritika."

"Yes, ma'am?"

"Aman, do you know where Aditya is?" I asked, rubbing my chest.

"Uh, ma'am, I don't know, but I thought he was coming home," he replied.

"No, he didn't reach here," I said, looking out the window.

"Then he must be at his penthouse, ma'am."

"Okay. Thank you, Aman."

"Goodnight, ma'am."

"Goodnight." I decided to go there.

Grabbing my clutch, I walked out of the room and closed the door.

Everyone was asleep. I mentally thanked God.

Sliding into the passenger seat, I started the car and drove to his penthouse.

"God, please keep him safe," I chanted continuously while driving. Within ten minutes, I arrived. The rain was pouring heavily.

"Adi! Adi, where are you?" I screamed upon entering his penthouse. I switched on the lights and gasped in shock at the mess around me.

Broken glasses and vases were scattered on the floor. Seeing this, I became even more scared. I started climbing the stairs towards his room.

Taking a deep breath, I slowly opened the door and saw Aditya standing with his back facing me, looking out of the big glass window. I entered, noticing his room was in the same condition as the hall.

What is happening?

"Aditya," I whispered, walking towards him.

"Adi," I called, shaking his shoulders. He slowly turned and looked at me with bloodshot eyes, causing me to step back in fear. My clutch fell from my hand.

"Adi, what happened to you?" I asked calmly. But he just stared at me, making me anxious.

"Aditya, I asked you something! Why aren't you answering? What happened here?" I yelled.

Letting out a frustrated sigh, I walked towards him and smelled alcohol.

"Adi, are you drunk?" I asked suspiciously. He had promised not to drink.

"For God's sake, Aditya, tell me something..."

"Shut up!" he screamed, cutting me off.

"Just shut your mouth," he whispered darkly, leaning towards me.

What happened to him suddenly?

"I married you, but that doesn't mean you can control my life," he growled in anger.

I flinched at his harsh voice, tears forming in my eyes.

"For the world, you may be my wife, but in reality, you are nothing to me. My last chance of mending this relationship is shattered." He added coldly,

"Listen carefully: never dare to raise your voice at me, understood?"I nodded slowly, sniffling.

"And only answer me if I ask you anything. Is that clear?" he asked in a dangerous tone.Feeling scared, I nodded without looking at him.

"Look at me when I'm talking to you." He put his finger under my chin and lifted my head. His eyes were full of arrogance and cruelty.

My vision blurred with each passing second. His grip on my chin was strong and painful.

"Now answer," he ordered huskily.

"Ye-yes," I replied in a shaky voice.

He released his grip and swayed out of the room, giving me a hard glare.

Finally, I broke down. The pain in my heart was unbearable. I thought he had changed, but no—he was still the same beast, Aditya Singhania, devoid of humanity or emotions.

I slid down against a pillar, continuously crying.

God, why me? Why is this happening only to me?
