Kritika returned to the bedroom after finishing her kitchen chores to find Aditya sprawled on the bed, engrossed in his laptop. She headed straight to the bathroom to change into her nightwear. Emerging in her night suit, she hesitated, unsure where to sleep.
How do I ask him about the sleeping arrangements? This man isn't even looking at me.
Summoning some courage, she walked over and stood beside the bed. Clearing her throat to get his attention, she received no response. A fake cough, which turned into a real one, finally drew a reaction as she gulped down a glass of water, soothing her throat.
Aditya, observing from the corner of his eye, allowed a small smile to play on his lips before masking it with a serious expression. He's deliberately ignoring me. I'll show him what I can do. Kritika smirked mentally.
"Ahhhhhhh!" Kritika screamed loudly, right in his ear.
"What the hell!" Aditya leapt from the bed, clutching his laptop.
Kritika mentally congratulated herself for the act. Aditya placed his laptop on the table and strode towards her.
"What was that?" Aditya demanded harshly."What?" Kritika feigned innocence.
"That!" He pointed angrily.
"I don't know what you're talking about." Kritika said, batting her eyelashes. Aditya inhaled deeply, attempting to control his irritation.
"Why did you scream?" he asked.
"Because you didn't look at me when I coughed," she replied with a shrug.
"You were that desperate for my attention?" Aditya smirked at her. She glared back.
"Oh, please, I'm not dying for your attention. I needed to speak to you about something important," Kritika retorted.
"Then you should have just called my name instead of screaming," Aditya hissed.
"Ah, I forgot. Don't worry, next time I'll definitely call you." She flashed a cheeky smile.Counting to calm himself, he closed his eyes. "One, two, three, four, five, six..."
"Mr. Singhania," she addressed him, raising an eyebrow as he opened his eyes.
He shook his head and sat back on the bed. "So, what do you want to talk about?" he asked, removing his slippers.
"I want to sleep," Kritika stated.
"Should I sing you a lullaby?" Aditya mocked.
"Oh no, please don't. My ears might die from your gross voice," Kritika said, pulling a face.
"Miss Rai, stop with the nonsense. I want to sleep," Aditya shouted, getting under the covers.
"If you sleep on the bed, where will I sleep?" Kritika asked, raising her eyebrows.
"I don't know. There are plenty of places in this room: the floor, the couch. You could even sleep in the bathroom. I don't care," Aditya said, closing his eyes.
Kritika's jaw dropped. Furious, she pulled his duvet. Aditya sat up, looking at her in irritation.
"Mr. Singhania, you can sleep in any of those places. But I won't," Kritika said firmly.
"This is my bed, so I will sleep here," Aditya insisted.
"I also want to sleep on the bed," she said, staring at him.
"As if I'd allow that," he chuckled humorously.
"Oh, really? Then neither of us will sleep," Kritika challenged.
"Okay, let's see," Aditya said, standing up.
"Oh my God, what is that?" Kritika exclaimed, looking behind him in astonishment.
He turned around at her words, and Kritika seized the opportunity to leap onto the bed, laughing.
"I won! I won!" Kritika shouted, sticking out her tongue. Aditya burned with rage, realizing she had fooled him.
"Get off my bed," he said coldly.
"Nope."
"I said, get off," he repeated, pointing a finger. She shook her head and pulled the covers over herself.
"Mr. Singhania, I won, you lost. Now it's my bed. I'm sleepy. Good night." Saying this, she turned her back to him and closed her eyes.
Aditya rubbed his face in frustration, glaring at her sleeping form.
"Miss Rai, I won't let you sleep on my bed peacefully," he thought with a smirk.Did that Khadoos leave? Kritika wondered.
Huh, Kriti, why worry about that man? Just sleep. Mumbling to herself, she closed her eyes.
The next second, she felt herself being lifted. Opening her eyes, she saw Aditya carrying her towards the couch. The duvet fell to the floor.
"Mr. Singhania, put me down!" Kritika screamed, wriggling in his arms. Aditya smirked and dropped her onto the couch.
"Ahh!" she cried, glaring at him.
"Next time, you'll be on the floor," Aditya warned, walking back to his bed. He turned off the lights and lay down.
Kritika stared at his silhouette, fuming.
"Kriti, you can't let him get away with this."
But will he really do what he said? Kritika wondered, gulping.
She decided to sleep but promised herself that she wouldn't let him off easily tomorrow. With that thought, she closed her eyes.
