SEVEN HILLS HOSPITAL, MUMBAI

Kritika and Aradhya sat in the cafeteria, savouring their favorite drinks.

"So, how did your surgery go?" Kritika inquired, taking a sip from her glass.

"It was okay, but there were some complications. Thankfully, everything turned out fine in the end. How was your session?" Aradhya asked, curious about Kritika's day.

"Ugh, it was a nightmare. Dealing with a couple's constant bickering without them listening to me was exhausting. I felt like kicking them out of my cabin. Thank goodness for my stress ball," Kritika grumbled, her annoyance evident on her face.

"That sounds tough, but hey, it's good practice for dealing with future husband-wife quarrels," Aradhya teased, earning a scoff from Kritika.

"As if you won't face the same," Kritika retorted playfully.

"Fair point. Anyway, do you think Ahana will come today?" Aradhya asked, shifting the topic.

"I doubt it. Her brother is visiting, so she'll probably be busy," Kritika replied, just as her phone started ringing.

"Hello... Alright, sir... I'll be there," Kritika said into the phone before abruptly standing up and leaving her food behind.

"What happened?" Aradhya asked, puzzled by Kritika's sudden departure.

"Prakash sir wants to see me, so I have to go. Catch you later," Kritika explained hurriedly before rushing off.---Kritika entered the dean's office after receiving permission. She greeted him politely and took a seat across from him.

"So, what did you want to discuss, sir?" Kritika asked, getting straight to the point.

"Kritika, I have a new case for you. The patient is the mother of a friend of mine. She's been undergoing treatment for three years with no improvement. They've requested my assistance, and I've decided to assign this case to you. You're one of our finest doctors, and I trust you to handle it with care," Prakash explained, handing her a file.

"This file contains the patient's medical history. If you have any questions, feel free to ask," he added.

"Thank you, sir. You can count on me to handle this case diligently," Kritika assured him.

"I know I can," Prakash replied with confidence.

"And when will the patient be admitted?" Kritika inquired.

"The treatment will be conducted at their residence for security and confidentiality reasons," Prakash answered, anticipating her next question.

"I see. And when should I begin?" Kritika asked, already planning her approach.

"I'll inform you of the details later, Kritika," Prakash said, concluding their discussion.

"Understood, sir. I'll take my leave now," Kritika said, rising from her seat and leaving the room with the file in hand.---Aradhya approached Kritika as she emerged from the dean's office.

"What was that about?" Aradhya asked, curious about Kritika's meeting.

"Nothing much, just a new case assignment," Kritika replied nonchalantly as they entered her cabin.

"A new case? What's it about?" Aradhya probed further.

"I'm not sure yet. Everything's in this file. I'll have to study it at home," Kritika explained, placing her belongings in her bag.

"And when will the patient be admitted here?" Aradhya questioned.

"They won't be. The treatment will be conducted at their home for security reasons," Kritika replied, lacking enthusiasm for the arrangement.

"I see," Aradhya said simply.

"Well, my shift is over. I'm heading out. You go get your bag," Kritika said, ready to leave for the day.

"Alright, I'll be right back," Aradhya agreed, heading off to retrieve her belongings.
