Sam was out looking for a venue for the surprise birthday party, while you were back at your place listening to music as you were painting while you were outside in the backyard.You enjoyed painting especially because you had bought a new canvas and some new paints, so you had been wanting to try them out, it had also been a while since you had sat outside to paint. 

As you were halfway through painting, you heard your phone ring, so you whipped your hands clean with a cloth you had and quickly picked up the phone once you saw the caller id.

Mother 🐻

Hello

Hey sweetheart

Just by the tone of your mom's voice you could tell that something was wrong.

Hey mom, um I'm good...is something wrong,
you sound worried?

There was silence on the other end for a few seconds before your mom finally spoke.

Sweetie, I have some news...y-your...grandmother she-

What about gram-gram, is she ok?

Oh honey...I'm sorry...

There was the same silence on the other end for another few seconds before your mom spoke again.

There's no easy way on saying this, but your grandmother has passed away

No.... no no no

At that moment hearing the words that had come out of your mom's mouth caused your world to stop completely and turn upside down.

No no no that's not possible, I spoke to her a week ago she was fine

You said to your mom as your voice started cracking as you tried to hold back tears.

Sweetie, I know this is terrible news, but they sa it was a  heart attack, she passed away in her sleep, thankfully she didn't suffer

But...but how...what do I do

Just breath sweetheart, you don't have to worry
about anything for now, ok? Just take a minute
to yourself and we can talk later, I love you

Ok...I love you too mom

You ended the call and the moment you did, you instantly fell to your knees and started to sob loudly. You stayed on your knees curled up in a ball crying, your mind racing, thinking about everything, and just trying to process the information you had just received.

After a while Sam got back home, but when she didn't see you inside, she went to the backyard and when she finally saw you, she instantly knew something was wrong. She approached you quickly and crouched down in front of you.

Sam: "Gurl...what's wrong? What happened?"

You looked at Sam and without saying a word you lunged forward and wrapped your arms around her, holding onto her tightly sobbing uncontrollably onto her shoulder.
