Turning Pages of the Past

This was the first week of December and it had been snowing since last night. Today is Sunday and Selen was sitting in the living room enjoying her snack time with her family.

"I think we should go to meet Aunt Lyla."
Sam said to his family playing chess with his father.

"Yups! We can go to her on vacations."
Aden raised his head from the mobile screen and said in excitement and again focused on his game.

"You boys just need a reason to go to Massachusetts."
Their mother, Rose replied knitting the scarf for Selen.

"Why not? Lynn is beautiful in every way. We can go there boys but what about your sister?"
Erik, their father said playing with Sam in fact winning the game.

"You can also apply for the holiday Selen. You love Aunt Lyla too, you can spend some time with her."
Aden said to his sister with an innocent face looking at her and she poked his nose with fondness.

"Aunt Lyla seems lonely. Doesn't she have anyone to call a family? How do you know her?"
She asked suddenly, her parents shared an eye contact for a moment before signalling their children to pay them attention.

"We actually don't know her. We found her in a street unconscious and in a situation which can't be described. We went to Lynn to say a last goodbye to your grandmother but now your Aunt Lyla is living there."
Erik told them the story of how they found Lyla but they did not want to recall the incident.

"So, she doesn't remember anything about her family?"
Selen asked another question concerned about her aunt Lyla.

"She was repeating a name in her unconsciousness but when she gained her consciousness, she was all silent. She had therapy sessions for years but she decided to remain quiet. So, we are her family now."
Emma completed the story this time. She was sad for Lyla but showed no one.

"I thought she was our real aunt."
Aden said again and he was upset this time.

"She is not your aunt by blood but she loves you a lot. And people who are bound by love are more special than blood relations."
His mother explained her with gentleness and squeezed her cheeks.

"It's decided now, we're going for the holidays next week."
Sam said in excitement after coming back keeping the chess board in the corner.

"The Company has three upcoming major projects that's why I can't say I can go."
Selen said getting up from her place to go to the kitchen to keep the plates.

"Don't ruin our plan now. We've decided and it's final and you are coming with us."
Sam declared coming behind Selen to the kitchen and teased her by pulling her braids from behind to that Selen ran behind him.

The next day in the morning, Selen decided to talk to Stefan about her vacation but found his whole schedule packed for the day.

"Hi!"
Stefan said with a soft voice looking out of his laptop screen and Selen returned his greetings.

"You wanna say something?"
He gave her his all attention to listen to.

"Yes, I wanna say I want a vac- I-I want to go with Mia, Mr. Smith himself asked me to join her stylist team."
She wanted to talk about her vacation but she could not because everyone was busy, he was busy and she wanted to help him so she changed her answer.

"Jayden told you? I didn't know this. Well, you can join, Mia is a big artist of our company and you will get to learn many things with her team."
He said cheerfully and boosted her confidence.
