Marriage isn't always perfect

Lesson 26

" are you ready Octavia?"

" yes"

" let's start have you helped your mom in any way from breaking free from your father?"

" I have her working on a designing project with a  friend of mine it's been really good actually I can see her old self coming out but my father doesn't like that" I told Jasmine

" how so?"

" he wants her to himself he came to my home saying take her off the job and stuff like that"

" Octavia a person looking from the outside in would say you love your father because that's what you show why do you do that?"

" I honestly don't know I think I'm so used to putting on an act to benefit the others around me"

" don't put on an act it's just digging a hole to how you really feel last time we stopped at what your dad did something to you can you tell me that today?"

I wanted to be free of him so I had to I wanted to set my mother free I took a deep breath not knowing was I really gonna talk about this.

" my dad he used to lock me in um dark tiny spaces for a very long time when I tried to help my mom it happened a couple of times my mom used to try and find me but that just made him keep me in there even longer one day i passed out in there i had to go to the hospital that day i said to myself i wouldn't try to help my mom again"

Jasmine looked at me sadly before hiding that emotion.

" I'm so sorry that happened and you help your mom now because?"

" you told me we only get one mom and he will never do that too me again i would't let him and Andreas would really hurt him I wanna cut ties with my father and I want my mom to do the same as well" I told her

" and if your mom doesn't what will you do?"

" I have to put boundaries up and I have to go my separate ways with my parents i have to help myself I won't keep helping a woman who doesn't want it I have a family now a husband and a little girl I can't keep playing those games with my parents I will not do it"

" I respect you for that because it might be hard but sometimes we have to look out for ourselves and cut ties to the people we love but they aren't good for us I'm very proud of you Octavia we came a long way from the first time I talked to you and Andreas you two needed the alone sessions and this will be your last you will be set free today Octavia" Jasmine said a tear slipped down her face shocking me

I handed her the tissue she smiled at me happy as she wiped her tears I felt a little better but there was one more thing I had to do before being set free.

Step one was talking about it what that man did and actually acknowledging it

Step two well I'm not sure how that one will go yet.

" thank you Jasmine so much I have a little feeling you relate to me"

" I do very much"
