𝐏𝐑𝐎𝐋𝐎𝐆𝐔𝐄THE LONDON SOCIETY was exactly as Victoria had imagined it would be: curious. Even though her aunt had tried to prevent society's unforgiving gaze from falling on her family, it was inevitable.
When they arrived at their future home-a mansion with light green walls and wooden shutters with a pleasant front garden at the entrance-they were taken aback by the shrewd eyes of their neighbours who seemed to infer who the new residents might be.
"They could disguise their interest," Victoria commented, observing the place where she would be living
"Darling, it's just a diversion for them. Whenever there are new people in town, they're eager for information and scandals," her aunt explained, waiting for Jill to get out of the carriage.
Overwhelmed by the place, the youngest was late in descending. There was nothing so fantastic as a nice new home.
"In particular, I think it's lovely that you're interested in our presence." Jill entered the conversation with a big smile.
"Personally, I think she's more interested in who's courting her," Victoria replied sharply.
She adored her cousin, but his interest in a good marriage and his eye-rolling comments made her feel slightly stressed, even though she knew how important it was.
"Darlings, no fighting. Today is a day to celebrate our arrival, so let's get to know our house and enjoy the day, shall we?" Their aunt suggested.
The three of them hugged each other, admiring the view of the house, happy to be there and putting their disagreements aside for a while.
"I wouldn't want to be anywhere else in the world," Jill finally commented, entering the house with her mum and cousin with bouncy steps, despite her long dress.
Faster than the speed of light. Victoria quickly found her room in an attempt to get away from Jill.
She wanted to rest her voice for a while because she reached her social limit when she talked too much.
She would use the morning to organise her belongings and rest, after all she suffered from a certain antisocial behaviour at times and needed to recharge her batteries frequently.
Her collection of books had already been put away, as had her clothes, and the room was beginning to look like Victoria's, with its light decor and pastel-coloured walls that reflected her personality.
