𝐂𝐇𝐀𝐏𝐓𝐄𝐑 𝐄𝐋𝐄𝐕𝐄𝐍VICTORIA'S EYES BURNED at the blazing sun that punished her face. The curtains were open, allowing the full light of the sunny day into the sleepy girl's room.
"Come on, Victoria, get up!" Exclaimed the familiar, sweet female voice, which now sounded irritated. "We're going to the Bridgertons' house today and I was hoping you'd want to get ready."
Jill snide remark made Victoria jump out of bed in surprise. She had completely forgotten that she was about to have another one of her new artistic encounters with Benedict.
"I didn't even have to say his name," commented Jill with an exultant smile, already pulling the older woman out of bed.
"Don't be silly, Jill, I'm looking forward to meeting the Bridgerton family, not Benedict," Victoria replied triumphantly, putting an end to the subject.
Victoria girl spent a few minutes getting ready for the day. Of course, they would still have lunch, but even if she was no longer interested in Lady Whistledown, she wouldn't want to receive any unfavourable impressions in the brochure.
"I think it's good," she concluded, examining her reflection in the mirror
Victoria went down to the café, unconsciously expecting to see the lively and wise aunt Jolly at the table, ready to give her advice at yet another meal, but surely that wouldn't be possible, as aunt Jolly was now in Bristol, possibly thinking about the new flavour of pie she would create.
She already felt free to be more like Jill and give free rein to her imagination. It was amazing how throughout life you can change and change until you want to—after all, that's a good thing, unlike
"Sweet Illusions," thought Victoria
"Good morning dear, how did you sleep?," Glinda asked with a friendly smile on her face.
"I bet that's great, Victoria was even drooling, mother," teased Jill, receiving a grimace from Victoria.
"Perfectly," she replied, frowning at Jill, looking at the leaflet her cousin was holding and taking an interested look at it. "What rubbish did she say today?"
"She likes us, every paragraph ends with Fernsby or something to do with our family and our return to London," exaggerated Jill, catching up on the news.
Glinda carefully observed the glow that her niece radiated, pleased that she was thinking more about her own happiness.
"I'm glad you don't care about her anymore, Lady Whistledown is a waste of time," she commented, receiving a small smile.
The three of them talked a lot about Benedict, and with Victoria's immense embarrassment at mentioning the man, she almost tried to speak in codes about him.
"So you like his eyes?" Jill teased, turning Victoria slightly red.
The girl was learning with time not to miss opportunities to get round Jill's jokes.
"Well, they're pretty. Don't you think so, aunt Glinda?" She asked, hoping to get some help from the oldest and most experienced woman on the scene.
"There's no denying it, Jill. I think his eyes are beautiful, Victoria thinks they're beautiful, his siblings probably think so too," Glinda assisted Victoria and winked at the girl.
Jill grunted, annoyed that she hadn't been able to make fun of her cousin, but pretended to be elegant as she calmly ate her breakfast.
Glinda looked forward to Lady Bridgerton's invitations because she could keep abreast of the thoughts of Harry Kirby, her daughter's future fiancé, and also analyse second options.
