P/S: Just some boring conversation since I think they need to patch things up.
Sue me for having a writer's block. 😭 Hopefully, I'll be able to pick up the pace of the story soon...🙏
3rd POV
After making a short phone call to the President of the Armed Detective Agency, the brunet came back finding the office half-empty. There was only the redhead lady without the sign of the leader of the Port Mafia.
Dazai knocked politely on the half-opened door and entered with an awkward silence. The lady, noticing his presence, motioned the youngest executive to take a sit. The beanpole slowly bobbed his head and did as he was told.
There's a hesitation but he first needed to ask anyway. "Hmm...where did Mori-san go?"
The older woman was sitting on a chair across to where the Demon Prodigy was presently sitting. "The Boss went to the basement. I'm pretty sure you know exactly why."
The suicidal maniac nodded. He momentarily scratched the back of his head and had an apologetic smile. "I'm sorry about this, Ane-san. I know you're n--"
"Don't apologize." Kouyou immediately cut him off, not even sparing the young prodigy a single look."I know you always have your reasons. But it still came as a surprise when you proposed to the Boss that you want to return in the Port Mafia. I hope you know what you're getting into."
The former detective knew all along that there's no escape for an interrogation. Being honest won't hurt once in a while. He still held some respect to the motherly figure of the Port Mafia after all.
"I have to, Ane-san. I can't let the history repeats itself. This time...I'll make sure that I'll be able to save a person." There's that conviction in his voice that startled the woman.
The redhead lady furtively glanced at the brunet. Dazai's eyes were now fixed staring at the window glass distantly while his fingers absentmindedly fiddled with the fedora hat that he's been holding for quite sometime now.
"And all this time I thought you didn't care." Kouyou shortly remarked.
The youngest executive pouted and looked exceptionally insulted. "I do, Ane-san. At least in a certain degree."
The older woman huffed. "Are we on the same page, Dazai? We're talking quite in general here."
The beanpole automatically displayed a sour look on his face. "I don't want to say his name because it will leave a bitter taste in my mouth. I don't have a mouthwash with me!"
"Such a silly boy!" The lady executive jested and afterwards resumed a serious tone. "I won't pry with your real business with the Boss but I hope that you will assist us in our search for the lad."
"Of course, that's the main goal!~" The bandaged lover sing-sang.
"However..." The lady paused for a while. "...I don't think you returning in the Port will make him happy. The lad always sees you as his rival. " Kouyou then massaged her temple. "And you even reclaimed your position as the Boss' right-hand man and executive. He will definitely take this thing against you."
The beanpole shifted his shoulders. "That would be a natural response. That's how his mind works." Dazai posed a reassuring smile. "But don't let it concern you, Ane-san. I'll talk it out with him. Only if he wants to hear my explanation, of course!~"
The lady mafioso shook her head disapprovingly. "You still haven't changed. "
"I'm just built like this, Ane-san. Besides...just as how much I can read him like the back of my hand, he also knows me too well." Dazai pointed out.
